Andy Carroll did the minimum you would expect of a striker and had the desired impact you would want from an impact sub.

As it is, he never made a telling difference, because we still lost.

I thought he was unplayable that final. Also, towards the end of the season he was showing some good form. Downing never showed good form.

OK. Don't believe I said once he was worth 35m. I was only referring to some of the good form Carroll showed towards the end of the season. Neither of them are anywhere near worth what we paid for them but if your comparing the two, in my opinion Downing was an even worse signing than Carroll.

My God he was poor last night. I am not sure if it was due to instruction but his positioning last night was extremely poor. Everything dangerous from them came down the left channel, all 3 goals came from the left. He looked labored at times and his tracking back was non existent.

I have been one of the people who has thought he has gotten a rough ride of late, but my god, that was poor. Surely Breno can find a way to bring back that footballer we signed, he was out best player the first have of the season he signed now hes our weakest in our reserve team .. talk about a fall from grace

I was guilty of being taken in by the Enrique bandwagon - but, well - he's ****e.

Riise was a far better player than him, the sad fact is that Riise has been just about the best left back we have had in the last 20 years.

Don't know if you can strictly call Arbeloa a left back though. Johnson playing there has weakened right back.

Was shocking tonight, his constant dilly dallying with the ball is so annoying, often loses it too & his defensive positioning is awful. Gutted as i thought we were finally onto a winner at LB... sadly not.

I have to agree with you completely regarding your comments above... I found myself screaming at him many times over during the match.. and his constant dilly dallying is more than annoying, the lad was a total liability..

Seriously though, I think I'd rather see Robinson in the team on current form. I imagine we'll be sticking Johnson there for a while longer though.

Kelly hasn't kicked on and holds us back IMO....he's so far from what a Rodgers full back needs to be, and at the same time it negates Glen a little bit by moving him to LB. Enrique's form has plummeted but as things stand I'm so keen to see us with a natural shape and to see Glen at right back that I'd be tempted to try Jose again on Sunday. Grim I know, given his dire performances, but I really don't want to see Johnson stuck at LB again.
