There's no wonder he looked ace at Blackpool when the only judge would have been people watching MOTD. He's a great highlights player.

        Great support lads

He's been one of our better players with good productivity. Him and Stevie in the middle won't work but he did well with Lucas there.

If Stevie is playing in the middle then I'd consider him as a deep(ish) lying wide left midfielder- like Beckham was for the Scum but on the other side. Much more likely to create something than Downing with good delivey into the box.

Shouldn't be starting in the middle against Spurs. Should be Gerrard and Hendo to combat their mobility in the centre of the park.

Thing is, he has been a liability at times. Would you diagree with that assessment? Pretty much everyone can see that.

He has also done some good things.

Pointing that does not amount to a lack of support. Most of us don't care who is playing as long as they deliver the goods. If not, questions are asked.

If we get to the point where the good things are really outweighing the bad, then we have a player we are all happy with. If we don't get to that point, we have a player we are frustrated with.
          Oh I don't know.

A textbook Hamann foul would be to somehow get your body between the ball and the opponent, then fall over at the slightest touch. Didi was a master at this.

Hmm liability is a strong word

How many games has he actually cost us points?

That then has to be weighed against how many times hes actually created goals that have won us games

Dont get me wrong theres time when his play makes me nervous particularly without Lucas or at the very least without Spearing alongside him but IMO lots of people are being over critical

True. I can't remember either to be honest.

In yesterday's match thread it was 6 before the two yesterday.

He did very well for both of the goals yesterday, but overall he still looks like a liability more than an asset.
Yup 10 assists in the league thus far according to oul Fantasy Premier League stats

He looks a liability when he is given a defensive role, which he cannot play. Said it before several times, IMO you only see the best of Charlie Adam when he has absolutely zero defensively responsibly.

Everything about Adam's game is anti defence. He can't run, tackle and his positioning is shocking, it's very frustrating watching him in a deep role like that and he can be a liability defensively but IMO is much more of an asset than a liability as his stats clearly show. For me going forward and near the opposition box he is a different player. Personally i'd only like to see him used in that position which for me plays to his strengths. His production is undeniable and for the price we paid for him in that respect he has done very well. Not a coincidence than with out and out DM behind he looks a different player.

Has gotten a lot of stick, IMO very happy with what he has done at LFC thus far, statistically a better end product than Downing,Hendo & Carroll put together & playing from a deep role too

Off the top of my head

Getting sent off against Spurs was costly, and he let players in behind him for one or more of the Bolton goals

Cant remember too many other than that

Theres been times when I've winced at some of his defensive play but it hasnt physically cost us anything

Gerrard use to be a problem defensively until Rafa took away his defensive responsibilities and allowed him the freedom to solely threaten the opposition

I'm not saying that is what we should do with Adam but as you say hes far more effective as an attacking player and the less defensive duties he has the better

Gerrard like Adam have terrible discipline when it comes to defensive roles. But is it really their fault? Just not their game. IMO Adam has been forced to play so deep because of our injuries. Of course some of the tackles he does are plain stupid and watching him trying to run sometimes is painful viewing but i think he gets a lot of unfair stick considering his production levels, which are really impressive.

He will prove to be a great squad player for LFC & an effective first teamer too IMO.

                          Really?

We used him right against Man U in the cup, bring him on with 20 to go when the game is a little stretched and he can have that extra touch on the ball.
His lazy tracking defensively, and pathetic fouls week after week are a real liability.
I'd love to know how many times he's been booked in the first 20 minutes of games, and I guarantee 90% of those bookings have been crap, lazy fouls because he can't be arsed to track back and defend properly.

Adam has a cultured left foot and has a lot of pluses, currently his reluctence to learn or improve on the 'dirty' side of the game (positional play, tackling, tracking back, shutting people down) outweigh the positives for me.
The King was back for a short while. Long live The King.

The difference between Gerrard and Adam from a defensive-play point of view is that Gerrard is actually good at it. When playing in midfield he was still expected to get stuck in and put himself about; it's a bit of an over-simplification to suggest that under Rafa he spent all his playing time unconerned about what the opposition was doing, just waiting to ponce when we got possession. Even when playing further forward he still contributed defensively - he was master of the chasing-back-and-nipping-the-ball-away slide tackle.

IMO Gerrard has awful defensive discipline, roams too much. Don't think i'd be alone in that assessment either.
