So the problem with Ferguson and Rio was just communication ?

A manager about to lead his players out, having been so outspoken on not wearing the shirt, didn't communicate to his player, or vice versa, while in the same dressing room area.

Yeah right, has Ferguson apologised for his comments being out of place ?

What pisses me off about all this, is the way these organisations pick and choose who to condemn, or how hard to condemn, i can only imagine if Rafa had said the same thing, the campaign to Kick HIM out would be in full swing now.

What pissed me off yesterday was all of these old hacks on the radio saying **** like 'You don't cross Fergie'

Just **** off with that bollocks. Its not like he was out on the piss. He was making a point about an Anti Racism campaign. He has got so many of these blokes sown up its unreal.

Did you hear him at the press conference? Fergie said 'Just so you lot (press) dont start crying and getting all in a twist, I am telling you I wont play Rio against Chelsea. I know how you talk'

      How arrogant.
      *Except Michael, who died.

It is absolutely outrageous how he gets a free ride from the press, and as much as I respect the elderly I ****ing hate that ******* with a passion.

I'd forgotten that they played each other at the weekend. Must have been a joint decision.

I think Ferguson is being seriously canny. He's pissed off Ferdinand has gone against him but is aware in effect he can't be shown to enforce his will on an issue like this. He's wriggled out of it all too well, I think. Stupendous weaselry.

Point about the campaign being highly selective is a good one and I think a big part of the reason people feel it is inadequate; it appears to be shackled to no small degree by the positions of the football establishment.

He's said he won't play him against Chelsea to avoid the media making a fuss about personal grudges etc?

Has he though ? his explanation was pants imo, my point and others is that he's been allowed to wriggle out of it, with little or no effort or valid explanation.

What he should have said is Sorry, for what he said about Rio and Roberts, stuff about sheep and putting himself on a higher pedestal was a disgrace imo.

Yeah, I don't think it's a satisfactory explanation either, but I think he's re-framed himself in a more reasonable light by suggesting if he'd have discussed with Rio before it may not have been an issue. In reality I'm sure it still would have been an issue as some of his comments more than hint at that, but his shift along with as you say the fear others having of criticising him means he's squeezed through the corridor of uncertainty. (Not sure if that's an appropriate use of that phrase but there we go!)

Operation dude, for someone that's bored of the whole thing, you're devoting an awful lot of time to this thread.

'Black Players Association' - a terrible idea IMO

yeah don't think it's going to be a good idea - helps promote the "us" and "them" divide which surely won't help solve the issue.

And it also assumes that the racism is all of the lines of skin colour.

Rather than the generic cheating foreigner rhetoric we have seen recently.

I suppose they'll have a colour chart like the ones they use in B+Q to determine whether someone is black enough? Are they going to discriminate against people who aren't black enough? Mind-boggling.

It would be a real backwards step.

I can understand why groups like that form in certain circumstances but as things are I think it would be hugely unnecessary and marginalising.
