How is one black man calling another black man a 'choc ice' racist?

Are we supposed to pretend that there is no such thing as black identity?
    .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

I thought the "Choc Ice" insult between two black people, was derogatory / racist towards Caucasians? ie; "White on the inside" is bad thing, because being "white" is a bad thing?

Accepting a black identity, and determining that you are supposed to act a certain way solely because of your race and to not act that way is betraying your skin colour is different
        Football without Origi is nothing

Yes, I assume it's that too. I just find it a laughably simplistic take on racism and identity.

I don't see how Ferdinand was fuelling the oppression of white people () by saying it to Cole.

It is? In all circumstances? And, as a white man, I should be telling this to black man, should I?

It's a fair question, although the FA charge doesn't refer to racism of course. In fact I'm not sure who else has.

The allegation is that the player acted in a way which was improper and/or bought the game into disrepute by making comments which included a reference to ethnic origin and/or colour and/or race."

It doesn't even say the comment has to be pejorative. If that's the text of the rule then even a positive comment is outlawed.

And 'White Men Can't Jump' is racist under FA rules.

Possibly, although I would think such a comment would be unlikely to be accompanied by a disrepute charge.

Yes, in all circumstances it is different. And no, you as a white man should not be telling a black, green, orange, purple or whatever colour you chose to name person this. You as a person should be telling another person this.

The assumption that a person of any race should behave a certain way because of their race is offensive. Ferdinand thinks it is acceptable to abuse Cole for saying he didn't hear anything racist said and that he is being fake.

Fake to what? Truth? Black people? Should Cole lie and say he did hear something simply because black people are supposed to stick together against white people? Should Cole keep quiet and let his team mate suffer because his team mate is accused of racism and black people are supposed to stick together.

Bollocks should he. Cole should be free to act as he believes right in every circumstance without some threat of cretins like Ferdinand accusing him of betraying the cause of black people or the black identity.

So yeah, very very different. In every circumstance.

I'm not sure what your issue is here Neil. Was it ok for rio to attack Cole in that way? Is it a topic the FA cannot involve themselves in, particularly because they are all white?

As you appear to be the only person to have used the term 'racist' I am struggling to see who you are criticising and why.

I think you'll find Luis Suarez might disagree there.

Was it purely down to bringing the game into disrepute? One professional going after another in the public domain?

So no one is black and no one is white. We're all just people.

Yes, skin colour has no bearing on any aspect of the social world, it can all be ignored and any reference to it must be deemed bigoted.

You can't be loyal to your ethnic background but it's ok to be loyal to your teammate. Gotcha.
