Which, at the very least, suggests to me it's common knowledge in football that powerful individuals and institutions can influence the FA's supposedly independent and justice-driven, disciplinary processes.

    Does it?

We have no idea if his unwise comments are influencing anything.
    Oh I don't know.

Rather a strong imputation, although sadly far from unbelievable.

That's not at all what i was saying. My inference was nothing to do with Hodgson's intervention per se, let alone accusing any such attempt (if definitely there were one) of having any impact.

My point is that Taylor finds it conceivable. He knows the intricacies of the FA, and the power and its limits of managers, including, of course, even the England manager. The fact he can conceive of the possibility suggests it wouldn't be the first time if it was attempted in this particular case.
        .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

He should have said he hopes the fa come to the correct conclusion, is all, imo.

He appears to conceive of the possibility that Hodgson might try to influence the FA, which doesn't itself suggest that the FA might be influenced by such, just that Roy might try. Maybe he just thinks Roy's a plank.

It doesn't prove the FA can be influenced. But it suggests Taylor thinks people 'inside the game' believe it's worth a try.

For what it is worth, I think it's less likely that Hodgson was trying to influence the process and more likely that he couldn't stop the drivel that flows so freely from his gob. But that's another matter. Either way it calls into question just how great he is at the PR side.

Yes, on its own it is a strong inference. But it fits with a lot of other, otherwise unrelated, things we know and have heard. There's a pattern.

But yep, it's not close to 100%.

Hodgson is an idiot, why come out and say this
