Dunno if this relevant in this thread, Ballotelli getting a yellow card for reporting racism at his match ?!!!...I agree Ballotelli is a ****ing tool but to compound his trauma by rascists in the stand by giving him a yellow card is appalling!
I dare say that the rascists loved that!
Nope, don't need anger management, you just need to stop pissing me off!

I've only seen reporting that was very light on facts. Is it clear that that was what the booking was for?

I guess its inciting the crowd. But I think that sort of booking is bollocks when it comes to racism etc. These guys are human, why should they turn the other cheek and bottle it up. Emotions are a thing, so why punish them here.

Exactly!...Wonder how the French FA will take on the referee's performance after he hands in his match report in the scrutiny of public opinion now?

Just read that a banana skin was thrown into the pitch at the North London derby yesterday.

Sometimes it feels like as a society we're regressing to the 1980s or even 1970s.
              Oh I don't know.

Yeah, a part of me hopes it wasn't meant as a racist gesture, just an irate fan throwing whatever he had in his hand at the time at an opposing player celebrating in front of him, rather than a deliberately racist moment, but somehow I doubt it.

I think even if that is/was the situation in which someone found himself, you'd surely to God think "actually, I'll not chuck this banana skin in the vicinity of a black player because that would be a very bad thing do to".

Who throws their litter onto a football pitch anyway?

Aye, you'd think so, but in the heat of passion, I'd expect that thought would probably come just as it leaves your hand, and the "oh ****" moment just after. The fact it was a skin, and not a whole banana, kinda lends a bit of credence to it.

(I'm trying to see it from the other side, not necessarily that I believe it to be true, but it could just be sheer stupidity rather than outright racism).

Yes, they all seem to get thrown a lot.

Bananas seem to only find their way to black players.

I mean it's not impossible, what you're saying, but it's highly unlikely. Then again, magnets amIright?

I agree it is unlikely, but you just never know.

However, even if it was accidental, there's no one who would buy that story, so the fan is screwed.

That's my exact feeling on this - he celebrated right in front of the Spurs fans and the banana was actually eaten so it was just the skin. Spurs have a multi race/cultural team also and I think that this isn't so prevalent in the modern fan.

I can imagine in the heat of the moment just flinging whatever you had in your hand out of rage/frustration but in this case a banana skin was infinitely times worse then if he hit him with a coin!
