Raheem Sterling accuses the Daily Mail of fuelling "racism and aggressive behaviour"

Raheem Sterling has spoken out on the alleged racial abuse he suffered during yesterday's game at Stamford Bridge. Chelsea have since announced that they have opened an investigation into the incident.

The Man City winger did not have much to say about last night's incident, but instead drew a correlation between how the media treats black footballers and "racism and aggression" from the stands.

Sterling, who is regularly targeted for criticism by the British tabloids, pointed out the difference in the Daily Mail's reporting of two young City players who bought houses for their respective mothers.

"Regarding what was said at the Chelsea game, as you can see by my reaction I just had to laugh because I don't expect no better."

The Instagram post juxtaposes to screenshots of Daily Mail coverage of Tosin Adarabioyo and Phil Foden each purchasing homes. The headline on the Adarabioyo story does refer to the young man by name — it simply reads "Young Manchester City footballer, 20, on £25,000 a week splashes out on mansion on market for £2.25 million despite having never started a Premier League match."

The headline on the Phil Foden story reads: "Manchester City starlet Phil Foden buys new £2m home for his mum."

"This young black kid is looked at in a bad light," Sterling points out. "Which helps fuel racism and aggressive behaviour, so for all the newspapers that don't understand why people are racist in this day and age, all I have to say is have a second thought about fair publicity and give all players an equal chance."

If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

      And he's 100% correct.

Mail now reporting Sterling told the Metropolitan Police that he was racially abused.

So it would appear that it was black and not manc as some apologists across social media would appear desperate to be the case.

Mail are also refusing to comment on the two articles Sterling referred to to in his post.

          **** them.

Are you giving the Mail clicks?
          Oh I don't know.

After looking at a few pictures I can't help but feel that there is a little similarity to the solicitor that was sacked for his abuse of Liverpool fans.

I didn't like Sterling for the way he left us but I have to agree with him here.
The dick in the background really looks like a hateful cunt.

I dislike Sterling for footballing reasons, I'd throw a few insults at him but I certainly wouldn't hurl racist abuse at him.

Racists and other such people are low-IQ cowards.

The amount of overt and subtle racist abuse Sterling gets is sickening, this incident is just obvious buy it's been going on for a while now. The Daily Mail is revolting but far from the only ones doing this crap.....

I read his story on the BBC page (sterling) was very insightful

Bloke has done brilliant for himself and a better footballer than i though he could be .

Also come across really well in all this.

Afraid a lot of fans think they can go and scream and shout what they want which is the main reason i haven't been for years and wont take my daughter.

Insilting an opposition player is part of the game Fivex (akin to sledging), but it can be done without the need to resort to racist abuse or over the top animosity.

I'm sure there will be plenty of pitchside mics that will confirm the abuse (or not, as some claim it was Manc and not black that was shouted?), so it should be a cut and dried case in this instance.

Um, you've never shouted anything like "You're ****" at an opposition player?
