Watched The Banker last night, really enjoyable film. It focuses on the absolutely vile institutional racism the existed in Texas in 1960s. Well worth the watch

A footballer whose team could face an FA fine for walking off the pitch after he was racially abused says "it sends out completely the wrong message".

Gillingham Town Reserves midfielder Eboni McCann said the abuse was "hurled" at him by a fan at the cup tie against Bridport Reserves on 9 October.

The club has been charged with a misconduct offence by the FA under its E20 rule.

Player reacts to being on the receiving end of racist abuse.....let's fine his club

I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.

It can be a thorny issue I guess, if the claims of abuse aren’t clear cut or are contested, but I don’t know if that is relevant to this case because I’m too lazy to read the article.

There were some interviews about it on Sky yesterday and it seems the ref confirmed he heard the abuse as well.

Didn't watch but saw somewhere that a comment was clearly audible that clearly referenced the skin colour of the goalkeeper.

Recognised as abusive but despite the fact it referenced race it isn't racially abusive?

Ex LFC that Shamal George. I saw his tweet and it is clearly racist abuse.

Why are the BBC peddling the phrase 'section of the crowd'. That's wholly incorrect and needs to be clarified before it escalates in to an LFC hate campaign.

Hope the culprit gets a lifetime ban, I wonder what triggered his reaction? There's no place in the world for race hate

The BBC article is clear it is an individual in the crowd - well it is now.

The FA’s quote was “We are very concerned about the allegation of discrimination from an area of the crowd, which was reported to the match officials during the Premier League fixture between Liverpool and Bournemouth.”.

But that wasn't a snide remark it was an angry reaction

That's misleading, almost as if they want to slap a punishment on the club

There is a Twitter post from someone two wheelchair places down from him, sounds like he is a Mr Angry type who has had rants and thrown things at players and officials before.

They should be forced to reword it.
