I was wondering that too. Why would Rooney be giving 100% every match so far this season at a club he wants to leave for a manager he can't stand ? He's either looking for a new contract or he's upped his game to attract interest from other clubs.

            Cracking signing for them

Wilfried Zaha: Manchester United may let winger leave on loan
Manchester United manager David Moyes says winger Wilfried Zaha may leave on loan in January.

After joining for £15m in January, Zaha was loaned back to Crystal Palace and has not featured in the Premier League for United this season.

"We have to try to make sure he gets some playing time," Moyes told the United club website.
"Unfortunately, we haven't done that with Wilf and, if it's still the case in January, we would look at it."

Dave Webb, the scout who discovered Zaha playing parks football in south London at the age of 13, has urged United to send him out on loan.

Moyes said: "I told him we would try to get him minutes but in the wide areas we have Nani, Antonio Valencia, Ashley Young, Adnan Januzaj and even Shinji Kagawa.

"We are as strong there as anywhere. It's not that Wilf has done anything wrong; it's just that we have big competition.

"He is very much in my plans and in my thoughts all the time. We don't want to put him in too quickly.

"I've said I would look at it in January as I wanted to have him here for six months to see how we work."

Moyes added that Zaha is in contention for a starting place in Tuesday's League Cup clash with Norwich City.

Re Zaha, can you imagine if we spunked £15m on a player and didn't give him a game? The media would be all over it! They never shut up about Aquilani.

Because its Zaha and Utd, they're giving it the "Moyes knows best, easing him in" etc

                Bull****.

something we have always had issues with compared to our 'richer' rivals

we sign a player for anything over £10m and he's expected to be first team quality and hit the ground running

City/Chelsea/Utd even Spurs seem to be able to make these sorts of purchases and are given time to bed them in etc

Yaya Toure writes off Manchester United's title chances saying they are "really struggling" under David Moyes

Yaya Toure has dismissed Manchester United’s chances of defending their Premier League title - saying they are ‘really struggling’ under new manager David Moyes.

The Manchester City and Ivory Coast midfielder also singled out Liverpool as the main threat to the Blues this season.

Both Manchester clubs have lost three times already this season but seventh-placed City are two points above United.

However, Toure, 30, told The Sun: "United will find it hard to defend the title since they have a new manager and are really struggling.

"Liverpool are a big threat at the moment because they have a strong squad and their strikers — Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge — are scoring goals at will."

Toure also defended City keeper Joe Hart after a string of shaky displays, saying: "Joe is a top keeper who gives his all to the team."

I'm sure it has absolutely nothing to do with Kolo being here either.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

Roma and Bosnia midfielder Miralem Pjanic is a high-priority target for Manchester United manager David Moyes

Manchester United are tracking Roma's exciting young midfielder Miralem Pjanic and are expected to make a £25 million move for the Bosnia international in January.

Pjanic has been superb for Roma, who are top of Serie A with nine straight wins, and United scouts have been watching one of Europe's emerging stars regularly. They have given glowing reports to manager David Moyes, who has made the signing of a creative midfielder his main priority in 2014.

United may have to pay more than £25m for Pjanic as Roma are adamant they do not want to sell midway through a remarkable campaign. The 23 year-old has been at the heart of a three-man midfield alongside another of Manchester United's former targets, Daniele De Rossi and Kevin Strootman.

Significantly, Pjanic has been the creative spark for one of the best Roma sides for years under new manager Rudi Garcia, who is keen to fight off interest in a youngster who has also been crucial in Bosnia's emergence as a genuine international force.

According to reports in Italy, Roma are going to offer their playmaker a new five–year contract, but they are unlikely to be able to offer the same generous personal terms United are willing to put on the table and his representatives will be well aware of the Italian club's financial limitations.

Pjanic, who could have played for Luxembourg after his family moved to the country to escape the war in Bosnia, began his career in France with Metz, before moving to Lyon. Roma paid around £9m to sign him in the summer of 2011, but he has taken some time to blossom in Italy.

Significantly, Pjanic is already a fluent English speaker which Moyes hopes will mean he is able to settle in England quickly if Roma accept they cannot hold on to their star in January.

Moyes also remains interested in Athletic Bilbao midfielder Ander Herrera. United failed to land the Spain international at the end of summer window and are expected to rekindle their interest in January.

That rug really tied the room together.
