Only Southampton have played more long balls per game (84) than Man United (73) so far this season.

David Moyes and Manchester United slammed over transfer window shambles by Alexander Buttner's agent

      4 Sep 2013 13:22

"It's unbelievable that Coentrao was not signed on time," fumes Buttner's agent Alexander Bursac who says Moyes doesn't trust the left-back

Alexander Buttner's agent has criticised David Moyes and Manchester United's bungling on transfer deadline day.

Buttner is upset because he is not sure if his loan move to Besiktas will go through because United failed to sign Fabio Coentrao from Real Madrid just before the window closed.

Buttner's agent Alexander Bursac claims the Dutch left-back does not want to spend the season sitting on the bench at Old Trafford.

Bursac told Voetbal International: "It's unbelievable that Coentrao was not signed on time and, whether that is an error on the part of Real or United doesn't matter.

"We have received assurances of a loan.

"Alex is not necessarily looking for a guarantee of playing time, but he does not want to spend the entire season on the bench."

Bursac hit out at Moyes and accused the United boss, who also failed in his attempts to sign Leighton Baines, of not trusting Buttner.

"Under Sir Alex Ferguson, Buttner was the up and coming man," he said.

"He started playing in more games and was trusted in training. That sense of trust is not there now."

Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

I love the Thiago explanation. Utd had scouted him for three years and lined up a deal but Moyes hadn't heard of him and wasn't sure he was better than Tom Cleverly, thought better safe than sorry and killed the deal. Yeah, sounds reasonable enough.

And to be honest this is what the Glazers may want as well. Like has been said it would cost them a lot to get in a good manager, and to rebuild the squad to that managers ideas. Where as a nice slow burn will see them keep the money coming in, and given the global status of the club they have many, many years to reap the rewards (look at how we can still bring in huge sums despite a relatively poor recent history) - throw in a cup here and there, be seen to be semi competitive and then the owners will be happy.

As for the Manc fans - well the ones that haven't defected to City, or some of their local London teams will wine and bitch, and we get to sit back and watch

                          it's a mad one

there was issues, player wanted out, wanted silly money, club wanted rid/to cash in

plus injury wise, he only managed to start like 19 games out all competitions last season

on top of that, i thought the above was the reason they went and splashed the cash on Zaha - supposed to be the best move of the decade - sell nani for £16m and replace with the even better and younger Zaha for £10m making a profit

now he gets a 5 year deal (after the window has closed - which takes him to 32 years old when it ends

                          and god knows what wage
