Capello would have been able to build up English football from top to bottom if they would have backed him. It may have taken him 10+ years to do it but after that time England would be top class IMO.
They got in the man they needed and sacked him
They now instead have people that will set them back even more. I didn't think that was possible but then they signed up Roy and a few others that don't almost even know that fire exist.
To me the problem cant be solved by appointing an England head coach
I think the problem lies at grass roots level
Until the ethos and ideals fundamentally change at that level then we will just continue down the same road we have done for the past 4 or 5 decades
Bob Paisley - "This club has been my life. I'd go out and sweep the street and be proud to do it for Liverpool if they asked me to."
On a slightly different note, I think Gerrard talks absolute ****e when he's on international duty. Is it a pre-requisite? I love him as a player but his comments sometimes are just as stupid as Wilshere's
Footballers are boring to listen to. It doesn't help when journalists ask them about the same banalities over and over again. Surely, if Gerrard was asked of how he felt under Bodgson, he wouldn't say that he's a ****. Certainly even more as he's the captain.
he didn't actually say whether he played good or bad...Just consistent. We were consistent under Roy, Consistently ****.
But must be hard for Gerrard he is captain of an england side and privately he must be gutted that he is working with the Jowly one, putting a brave face on it I think......Just hope none of the anger of being constantly dire gets directed at Gerrard and its all Hodgson,
I was more referring to his comments on foreigners limit in the PL. He was begging Suarez to stay all summer. Don't remember him saying a word about someone like Jonjo.
I find it pretty stupid that the state of English football for some is solely down to the number of foreigners in the PL. Bollocks for me. Why don't they learn some technique off these players that come over and play here. Oh yeah, but we're brave and tackle hard.
definitely the way to go. we should have all under 15s playing it, and only occasionally going to full size pitches.
The problem with this is, why should schoolkids who are never going to go pro or even try to, be prevented in playing proper football? I wanted to play on big pitches with 11vs 11 when I was younger like my heroes. I didn't want to play touch football on a 5 a side pitch.
We could introduce all this stuff and the England team is still **** in 15 years.
Its a tough one but should the masses of people who play the game, suffer for the tiny percentage that want to make a living out of the game?
