I think FSG will be very reluctant / careful about what contracts they offer to potential future signings when we're doing £1m+ on those three.

It's difficult though, especially with FFP kicking in. There's very little that we can do or offer over the bigger boys so FSG will have to think carefully about their approach.

It'd be interesting to know what Rodgers really thinks about this one. I wonder if he asked FSG to up the value of the contract or whether he agreed that it's not worth it.

I dont believe we are that attractive to people, we cant just trade on "being LFC" anymore

I didnt think we'd have to overpay for people like Gylfi, we have which is even more concerning if FSG are to stick with this financial policy

I dont envy the position they are in, they have certain beliefs and ideals on how to run their business but its going to be tough to achieve their goals without altering their stance

If they dont alter their stance it will be difficult to sign better players than Gylfi

I've been saying this for a long time, young players with potential is the direction we are heading in, no big name players and no CL for at least the next three years. The last three years of transfer **** ups have cost us dearly and will continue to do so for the next few years.

It may well be that unless aquilani and cole are off the books combined 200k + a week then we will not be paying top wages.

This is where we really need a chief scout like macia who can get players moved out that we dont want and start to bring in players that we do. We still havent filled the 'sporting director' role yet so I guess its not a massive surprise that were stuck in limbo.

There are strong rumours in the press that Villas Boas wants to sign Moutinho. He certainly wouldn't come cheap at this moment in time (£28 mil quoted). I wonder if this could throw a spanner in the works as far as this deal is concerned.

The longer this drags on, the less chance he'll sign for Spurs in my opinion.

Who do you reckon we're interested in, beyond Sigurdsson? I know Ben Smith said that we have 4-5 targets in mind who the club feels could be as good or better than Gylfi.
