Which is what I was getting at before mate, £5m is his value in terms of football for me. If we pay £3m extra it might be worth it in terms of marketing, if we could get him out on the tour especially. Saying that I have no great knowledge of how popular he is over there but we'd certainly get a bit more attention.Vive la France

It could breed an affiliation to the club, kids who idolise him over there will develop an interest in us. Add the cringey Warrior gear they'll be all over us 'we don't come to play'Originally posted by Mostar View PostI am not sure that will ever happen.
American's are known for their sense of patriotism and if they decide to buy Dempsey's shirt it will be US shirt not so much Liverpool especially if they don't have affiliation with the club.Vive la France

Yeah - I've just tried to find stats on sales figures for jerseys in America but all I came up with was exactly as you said - Americans so far prefer to buy national jerseys with Dempsey's name, not Fulham ones. Still though, it's a big place with a lot of people.Originally posted by Mostar View PostI am not sure that will ever happen.

It could happen especially if he would start producing at the same level as he did with Fulham as that would generate much more coverage through local media with Liverpool being such a big club.Originally posted by badpiggy View PostYeah - I've just tried to find stats on sales figures for jerseys in America but all I came up with was exactly as you said - Americans so far prefer to buy national jerseys with Dempsey's name, not Fulham ones. His attraction lies in FSG possible desire to raise the club's profile in US but I'd never pay more for him than about 5m.
It is silly business if we pay more than that especially as we paid 10.4m for 21 year old Italian international.
Why not just sign Freddy Adu.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

I'd be genuinely interested to see whether our US members think they will and also if the Fulham Dempsey shirt is popular over there currently.

How would this help our finances?Originally posted by badpiggy View PostI don't think we can dismiss the notion of say 100,000 Americans buying LFC Dempsey jerseys as being immaterial to the finances of any deal."With Ron Yeats in defence, we could play Arthur Askey in goal."
