His best performance but the highlights don't show him huffing and puffing all match and only pressing when he'd had a good rest.
People go on about match fitness but he is just plain unfit - packing in the ciggies would be a start.

He did okay last night. Well done Joe Cole for making a contribution, I think he's earned his £100k+ wages this week.

Do people think he's a player this club needs to push on ?

Or are we hoping this blip of form will be enough to tempt a club to come in for him ?

Hoping somebody is stupid enough to come in for him.

Done OK for the most part against a relatively weak side.
Good play for the first, and scored a goal so you can't really complain about his contribution. Drifted out of the game from time to time in the second half all the same.....probably to have a breather.

That said, even a broken clock is right twice a day, and its not like he hasn't put in a performance against poor sides before and then proceeded to shuffle off back to obscurity. Tight hamstring at the end as well wasn't there ?

I thought the goal and the assist flatterred his overall performance

His goal and assist came from some intelligent runs, relying on decent through balls. Which he got this time. However, when on one on one situations against weak full backs he wasn't that good. This is definitely a one off contribution from him, hopefully good enough to get him a loan deal somewhere taking his salary with him. /prays/

But if he scored & had an assist every other game would you rate him?
Me, I’m either planning a holiday or I’m on one.

Not for me. I hope other clubs were watching.

I thought he was better than that.

He could have had couple of assists and score couple more goals himself and that is really all you can expect.

He really surprised me yesterday in a good way and that was Joe Cole I have never seen with LFC.

Of course but thats about as likely as Abromovich honouring a managers contract

I think to a degree it depends on what standard you measure him against. I think as a midfielder he was pretty average - he didn't use the ball particularly well in deep positions or help us to maintain pressure. Evaluate the performance as that of a second forward and it was really good. He made a lot of runs ahead of Shelvey, created chances/openings in the final third - including and assist and a goal.

he looks like a right fat ******* ( relatively speaking)

is in no shape at all for premier league football, think he needs to do what Merson did and dazzle the championship while strolling around.

looks like half the player he once was but twice the size.

Joe Cole is a self inflicted red card when he comes on as a sub.
