The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Rodgers has confirmed he is now able to call upon the services of Joe Cole after the playmaker marked his return to action with a goal for Liverpool's U21s on Monday.

He added: "His attitude is superb and Joe really thinks he can contribute to the group, which is great. He's been unfortunate. He's been out and came back a couple of times, but didn't quite really get through fitness wise.

"He was out for eight weeks, trained for a couple of weeks, had his first game, scored a good goal and now he is fit. He's back into training now and looking to fight for a place in the squad.

"He loves his football, Joe, and he's now fit enough to fight for his position in the group."

Seems a likeable enough bloke, but he really has no business being at the club while he's on the wages he's on. I hope he realises this in time for the January transfer window and he moves on to West Ham or Everton

              It really does.

Wonder if Cole will get a stroll out in the UEFA tomorrow.

It does kind of read that way

Still I'd start him ahead of Downing

Joe Cole has done nothing wrong so far this season. He got injured and then was played way too soon and was injured again. People should have a go when he's played half a dozen games and been average in them. He was poor before he left to go to France, did well over there and came back to do his best this season. He can't help being injured. I've seen various comments saying where's cole? still injured? waste of space etc but fairs fair, you don't get the same when any of the others are injured. Granted most of them have put in some good shifts in red in the past which I guess buys patience with fans. As for his wage, he was given a contract, he didn't put a gun to anyones head. I'm sure come January, if he's fit and not playing, he'll look to move on, probably on loan again. Yet that'll be his fault because its a loan, he should give up his wage etc, the bloke can't win.

As well as the kids are doing and they are certainly the future, his experience could be useful IF he can get properly fit, but for that he'll need games.

I think Joe Cole needs to take some responsibility for the way he has been treated lately.

He could have gone to play football for Spartak Moscow as he had the chance to be regular there but he chose not.

It could have been the similar type of the deal as the one with Lille as Spartak Moscow is in CL competition and he could have had the chance to reignate his footballing career but he didn't want to do that even though he knew Rodgers didn't want him.

Why would he want to move to Russia? It's hardly appealing.

If I was Joe I'd have stayed until January at least and then take a look at things then. When fit at the start of the season he was well in contention for games, and whilst the performance of the youngsters has made it tougher, he wasn't to know they'd excel.

Had the youngsters fell flat on their arses he'd have been in the match day squad pronto.

$$$$ and only 13% tax. Why wouldn't he want to?

                            Never have

But the women and the tax bracket alone, makes to want to move there

the blokes got a young family and has just lived abroad for most of a year. can hardly blame him for wanting to be 'home'.

lets give him this season and judge him then. gone in the summer most likely.

                                Yup.

I hope he leaves for his benefit and for LFC's benefit, but you can't have a go at him for not wanting to move to Russia ffs.

If the reports are true, of course.
