Knew we wouldn't win once Cole's (and Downing's) names appeared on the team sheet. But both players needed to be given their chance to repay the money we invested. I'd rather in this game than ANY premier league game. Downing might be sh*te but nowhere near as bad as Cole.

Any half decent football fan, with a few weeks professional fitness conditioning, could play better than Joe Cole. Its about wanting to play than being able to play. The man's here for our money, might as well get used to it.

That argument could be levelled for every single player TBF. What the better players will do when given the odd chance is leave some kind of impression, either through sheer workrate or by showing glimpses of quality. He has failed on every single count, every single time.

The very least any player can do... is work hard. Work hard for the team and work hard for the fans. That's the very least.

I'm not sure it can be applied universally. At United Scholes and Giggs have shown that they can play without that and Gerrard until recently usually came back strongly after injury. I can see your point of view but I think there are different mentalities and different types of fitness that change the probabilities of seeing the good aspects of some players. Really it doesn't matter in the case of Cole at LFC as he's not the player we need.

Think its fair to say we would have more than our fair share of players in the premiership costliest flops XI over the last few seasons.

Even in Football manager nobody wants him Been trying to get rid off him for last 2 seasons, but seriouslyhe has to go down as the biggest waste of money that we have ever spend on any player, makes Aqua look like a bargain.
