Thinking back, he did very well for us in a diamond in 13/14.
It's hard to find a place for people who keep it simple these days, he's traditionally someone who is smart in possession and holds good positions in defence. It seems as things progress in the prem people are expecting a solid & athletic ball winner or a playmaker extraordinaire.
I think a young version of Xavi would struggle to find his way into a team, someone of his brilliance would always find a way, but lesser lights in his mould would be hitting brick walls IMO.
I think today Allen stopped being that simple passer & started to create things a little bit. He's showed it in the past but this is his best performance for a while. Helps that he's close to full fitness now.Forwards.......Comment
