Depends what they thought was worse, selling to us, or keeping an unhappy Suarez, noone else was interested, so they had little choice.

Not a club that can put a plus 20mill player in the reserves to rot.

It is imo, a bit strange for a manager to warn off a player from joining a certain club though.

Eriksen have said that he will sign a new deal if Ajax don't sell him this summer. He won't walk away on a free.

I'm not quite sure we had to beg to Ajax to take our £22m+.

Likewise, if we offer £15m (ish) for a player entering his last year of his contract, I'm not sure they'd refuse to do business.

Just because they negotiated strongly to try and retain their best player and their manager turned down our advances, doesn't mean they 'won't do business with us'.

Shakthar also warned the player off from joining us. I find it a bit worrying that two clubs in a very short time warn off a player from joining us.

Of course teams will warn off clubs their best players but it almost never happen that a club name the club in the media they way Shakhtar and now Ajax done.

If only one of them had done it then I wouldn't worry at all but two clubs doing it in a short time is a bit worrying.

for me if gerrard plays then henderson has to play. I still think gerrard is a part of that front 4 but he plays deeper with lucas and picks his moments to go forward.

Henderson provides the cover and the defensive ability of another central midfield player which means that we will never be overrun in the middle of the pitch.

i think the front four is really suarez, sturridge, coutinho and gerrard who interchanges with henderson. the other great thing about henderson is that he knows how to break from midfield so the opposition cant ignore his threat.
