I think its hard to call but I really like Lamela and haven't seen Willian play more than about 5 times and when I have to be honest I haven't been looking out for him. Was very good vs Chelsea in the CL and someone else I think it might have been against Juventus or am I making that up?Originally posted by marcus50bucks View PostBoth very good players but if both go for around about the same price I would say Spurs have got the better deal. He's younger and has a higher ceiling imo.
Any way these 2 coming to the league would be a good thing, although I'd rather Tottenham miss out
They're the ones to watch for me this season, very strong.

I think our formation next year will be a sort of hybrid between 4231 and 433 slightly different to how Tottenham set up. Playing Coutinho in a deeper #10 role against weaker sides at home but in tougher games Allen being thrown in and it looking like a straight forward 433/451Originally posted by el matador View Postit depends on systems and formations as to which teams are after which players. Both spurs and ourselves play 433, so there's going to be some overlap in interest in players. But some of their dealings seem panicked and for me both sigurdsson and Dempsey are examples of buying players without a clear plan on how to use them.
Dempseys gone after one season which is unusual.Vive la France

the hybrid of the 433 and the 4231 is the 4213.Originally posted by Robbie-9-Fowler View PostI think our formation next year will be a sort of hybrid between 4231 and 433 slightly different to how Tottenham set up. I 100 % agree that we will play both formations depending on opposition and how each game is going. I dont like the 433 with Allen at the most advanced of the 1-2 because I dont think he suits that role very well but that's BRs preferred / default set up.
Allen can only play 433 and hederzon is better in any of the other 4231 4213 formations.[B]Sir Isaac Newton knew the universal law of karma - any action has its equal and opposite reaction.[B]

I really, really, really rate Lamela, but given the strong connections between FSG and DiBennedetto/Pallotta, if he was available we'd definitely know. Roma are trying to show ambition apparently and he's not going to force through a move just to get to Spurs. I don't think he'll be nearly as easy to get as people seem to believe, so I don't really see it as a straight comparison.Originally posted by Robbie-9-Fowler View PostI think its hard to call but I really like Lamela and haven't seen Willian play more than about 5 times and when I have to be honest I haven't been looking out for him. Oh I agree but when you start talking around £30m that's enough to test most teams in Europe, the money has almost gotten out of control when £30m doesn't seem like a ridiculous amount!Originally posted by broman View PostI really, really, really rate Lamela, but given the strong connections between FSG and DiBennedetto/Pallotta, if he was available we'd definitely know. I think he's got enough about him to become a world beater, I hope Spurs got after him and leave us to get Willian and then Roma hold out.Vive la France

Oh, definitely - I wasn't really disagreeing, just using your post as a launching-off point.Originally posted by Robbie-9-Fowler View PostOh I agree but when you start talking around £30m that's enough to test most teams in Europe, the money has almost gotten out of control when £30m doesn't seem like a ridiculous amount!

Lamela's definitely boss, I'd just be surprised if Roma let him go for whatever we'd spend on Willian and even more surprised if he ended up in Tottenham.

£30m is an astonishing amount of money. I think when the Torres/Carroll transaction occurred it all happened so fast that it wasn't really our money.
Suarez and Torres were definitely worth paying significant sums for, Carroll and Downing were hopeless and an incredible waste of our resources. I might have thought they would become good players for us, but thankfully I'm not responsible for spending the club's money.
The recent waste has made me wary of spending big on players, I'm reliant on other posters here to get excited about new signings. I just don't want us to repeat mistakes, I hope that we've learnt from our recent experiences. We need players who will improve the first team significantly if we're going to spunk our funds on them.
