Sturridge will be back soon so that's another option for us. Suarez could move wider or play off him to his benefit because Sturridge is dangerous enough to keep the two central defenders busy. So there's more space for Luis.

Sterlings rehabilitation into the first 11 has been good to see. Hes looking sharp and dangerous again illustrating potentially this kids a real talent.

One more attacking option would probably be enough but there are other areas that need looking at. But i don't think Alberto is ready to make an impact at this level just yet.

Liverpool have NOT come to an agreement to sign January transfer target Mohamed Salah

31 Dec 2013 15:00 By Ross Dunbar Comments
The highly-rated FC Basel winger has been strongly linked with a move to Anfield, but reports of a done deal are wide of the mark

Liverpool have NOT come to an agreement to sign FC Basel's highly-rated Egyptian Mohamed Salah.

Social media rumours have suggested the Basel forward has agreed a five-year-deal with the Anfield club - but those have been categorically dismissed by his agent.

Furthermore, Liverpool aren't alone in their pursuit of the player.

At least one other English Premier League club hold the player in high regard, while there is notable interest from Germany and from one unnamed Spanish club.

Basel expect the Egyptian ace to be part of the club's winter training camp in Marbella in January.

Following the postponement of the Egyptian domestic season in 2011, Salah impressed in a bounce match between the Swiss champions and his national U-23 side, leading to a permanent move to St-Jakob's Park.

European strikes against Chelsea - on two occasions - and Tottenham in the Europa League and Champions League have alerted the continent's biggest clubs.

The 21-year-old still has more than two years to run on his current Basel deal, which expires in 2016.

Known as the 'Egyptian Messi', Salah is currently with the man himself filming a TV commercial in Cairo.

Reds keen on Mohamed Salah but no fee agreed

        By James Pearce 31 Dec 2013 19:01

Liverpool remain keen on FC Basel forward Mohamed Salah – but reports suggesting a £7million fee has been agreed are wide of the mark.

The Reds have held initial talks with the Swiss outfit but the ECHO understands that any potential deal for the Egypt international remains some way off.

There has been intense speculation in his homeland that Salah would arrive on Merseyside later this week to undergo a medical and pen a five-year deal.

However, that's news to Liverpool officials who have yet to make a breakthrough in discussions with Basel.

There are also a number of other clubs interested in the player known as the 'Egyptian Messi' and the Swiss Super League side are in no rush to sell.

Unless a compromise can be reached, Liverpool are prepared to wait until the summer when Salah, who scored both home and away against Chelsea in the Champions League earlier this season, will enter the final two years of his contract.

Meanwhile, Liverpool have dismissed reports in Spain that Barcelona winger Cristian Tello will be heading to Anfield on loan for the rest of the season.

Tello, who rejected the chance to join the Reds on a season-long loan in the summer of 2012, has found his opportunities limited under Gerardo Martino this term.

That has led to speculation that the 22-year-old could move on in January.

Liverpool did enquire about his availability but they are now looking at other options.

Local Basel newspaper Basler Zeitung says Liverpool have a host of rivals in their bid to sign Egyptian winger Mohamed Salah. As well as German clubs Bayer Leverkusen and Wolfsburg, and Spaniards Atletico Madrid, they also say Chelsea and Manchester United are very keen.
