I think it is hard to say what is the right value for him. He's obviously been in a poor league but he has done well in the CL. There is always a premium for both pace and goalscoring record/potential (improving for club and very good for Egypt from what I remember).

Coming from the Swiss league and given his age you would think his wages would be reasonable too.

Yeah because all our lives will crumble before us if we do.
        Are we winning?

Pointing out that we actually need at least 1 or 2 signings early on for them to get adjusted here sooner rather than later so we're ready for the big teams again and also cover some problem areas, ie midfield and defence. Thats if we want to try and press up as high as possible.

Quoted price of 12m appears high for unproven player coming from below average league.

Except the fact he is left footed, which is highly desirable as we don't have many offensive minded players that are left footed I'm not sure he is any better than Sterling and he is 2 years older.
I know nothing of this player but a left footed version of sterling would be very nice thank you very much. If he's at that level at 20 then he's doing well.

Puts into perspective how exceptionally good sterling is at 18.

Champions League experience and very good performances too.

That's got to be worth something?

If he was English £12m wouldn't even be the starting price.

Sterling was **** at 18. He was world class at 16, okay at 17, we should have sold at 18, but he might be alright again at 19.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

Looks like Utd are waiting in the wings to hijack any deal for Salah... even says himself that he'd prefer Real, United or CHelsea.

So our main job is to get price up then?
I really hope we're working on some DMs, not those deals doesn't look to be that advanced.

The Reds are understood to be favourites to sign the 21-year-old during this January transfer window with reports suggesting the club are close to sealing a £9m move for the Egypt international.

But Swiss newspaper Basler Zeitung report that the move is still some way of completion with Salah expected to return to his club for training on Saturday.

Perhaps more worryingly for the Merseyside club, several other big names remain in the hunt for the free-scoring winger, including Bundesliga duo Bayer Leverkusen and Wolfsburg, Spanish challengers Atletico Madrid and Liverpool's Premier League rivals United and Chelsea, according to the same publication.

The Reds will be hopeful United and Chelsea do not make their interest in the winger formal given that Salah revealed two of his favoured destinations were Stamford Bridge and Manchester United late last year.

"I want to play for one of the best teams in the world," Salah said, speaking after his side's win over Chelsea in the Champions League in November.

"My favourites are Real Madrid, Manchester United and Chelsea."
If the above report is near the truth, then he'll be difficult to sign imo, just depends on how much clubs like Chavski want him, and how high up their shopping list he is.

Not sure Man United will be quite the draw for him now as it was when he made those quotes last year though
