We should just pay every price every club demands from us even if we dont think a player is worth it.

Like we tried with Costa in the summer? We wouldn't meet their fee which IIRC was round about £25m and we bid £20m and missed out on him and he's banging the goals in and will most likely go for £40m+ in the summer.

Thats not exactly true is it now? They wouldnt sell after selling Falcao and he signed a new deal in mid August.

Easy to suggest that with the benefit of hindsight. It's not so long ago that the club met another club's asking price for a striker, paid out that huge fee, and ended up with a very expensive flop.

Going by the link below Costa is quoted as saying he almost joined us and was close to leaving Madrid.

Also all of the fees reported there (for both players) were speculation. As far as I can tell Atletico had no real desire to sell the player. Bashing FSG for their performance in rumours seems odd.

I would say Buzzo was implicitly and plenty of people on the internet more generally. I apologize if your post wasn't meant as agreement with that criticism.

Exactly but he wanted to stay. Not sure how that makes it our fault!

We met the required fee for both Mikhtaryan and Diego Costa. Both turned us down so nothing we can do about that. This Saleh deal reminds me of the Coutinho deal when Inter were haggling for more cash but there is an inevitable outcome for me.

I'm chuffed to bits with FSG and think they are doing a fantastic job. The improvement throughout the club since they took over is amazing. The rumoured value of Salah when we were linked was £14m to £16m then last week it was £7m now we are rumoured to not want to pay £12m, which IMO is his value and now there are stories of some of the big clubs wanting him it just feels like the summer when we dragged our feet and lost out on players.

My point is that if we will not meet the fee or Basle will not budge then fair enough lets move on to someone else and not waste time.

Played well against some good teams in CL but I'm not sure he can translate those skills in PL.

Quoted price of 12m appears high for unproven player coming from below average league.

Except the fact he is left footed, which is highly desirable as we don't have many offensive minded players that are left footed I'm not sure he is any better than Sterling and he is 2 years older.

I think FSG are doing a fine job as it goes. All in the garden is rosie. Not that bothered about Salah - I've never seen him play.
