He owes approximately 4 days pay net of income tax and national insurance (assuming of course he pays in full). 4 days. He'd never recover. I'm surprised he dared re-enter the country with such a substantial debt

Italy striker Graziano Pelle has been released from their World Cup qualifying squad to play Macedonia on Sunday for refusing to shake the coach's hand.

The ex-Southampton forward, who now plays in China, was substituted by Giampiero Ventura in the 1-1 draw against Spain on Thursday.

But he walked past Ventura and ignored his outstretched hand as he made his way off the pitch for Ciro Immobile.

Italy were 1-0 down at the time.

"Being part of the national team begins with showing respect for the staff, team-mates and fans," read an Italian Football Federation statement.

"The head coach together with the FIGC has decided to exclude Graziano Pelle due to his disrespectful behaviour.

"Players must share the values and assume an attitude which is in keeping with the Azzurra shirt."

The 31-year-old frontman, who joined Chinese Super League side Shandong Luneng in the summer, left the field with Italy trailing following Vitolo's opener, before the hosts equalised through Daniele de Rossi's penalty.

Ventura had said after the game: "I don't think Pelle was angry because of the sub, but maybe because of his performance. I have seen something like that a lot in my career. It belongs in football, but when you wear the Italy shirt, you need to be more careful

Brother actually had a drink with Bruce and Niall Quinn there last week or so. Quinn had invited him over for the All-Ireland Final.
Showed me a picture that they took in the pub afterwards, and I almost didn't recognize Bruce......looked completely different, as those pictures show.

Asked him about whether he was interested in the England job, but he 'didn't want to talk about football at all'. His words.

Fair play to the guy! He had to do something about the weight & stress...entering heart attack/stroke zone.

Villa will get someone who's refreshed & better for the experience.
Nope, don't need anger management, you just need to stop pissing me off!

Anyone seen Sissoko's elbow? Has to get three games for that. Bournemouth looking good, could as well have taken all three points.

Brazil legend Carlos Alberto, the captain of the 1970 World Cup-winning side, has died aged 72.

He scored one of the greatest goals in World Cup history in the 1970 final against Italy, rounding off a sublime team move with a powerful low finish.

Right-back Alberto was capped 53 times by Brazil and won domestic titles with Fluminense and Santos, for whom he made more than 400 appearances.

He died in Rio de Janeiro following a heart attack.
