One thing with the ‘best Olympics ever’. That’s pretty much self proclaimed right? I’ve not met an Australian backwards in self congratulation.

Which is the polar opposite of all the self loathing and beautiful hatred we have up here. Ironically in real life those opposites tend to be why we get on. That and hating the English.

You brought up the US as having no football culture. I was merely illustrating that there were 350+ million reasons as to why FIFA, corporate sponsors and tv companies were keen for a World Cup to be hosted in the US.

The US is hardly affected other than the East coast and even then its not that bad.

Your timezone reasoning is not a valid answer. You're wrong. Population isn't an issue, there are loads of people that would gladly travel to Australia for a world cup. Other than being a long way for europeans to travel, there's not a single reason why we couldn't host it and it wouldn't be a fantastic world cup. The stadiums are here already, we don't have to build them like they did in Sth Africa, Qatar, and Saudi.

The only reason we haven't is because of the ****ing arabs cheating their way to it and the russians buying it.

England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland all look like being in groups that they should either win (England) or have a good chance of coming second in.

We beat the Aussies in a playoff when I was a kid to get to a WC. Am sure Frank McAvennie scored in a tight 2 leg tie. I had to feign illness to watch and get out of school to the inconvenient ko time in the away leg.

Englands draw looks tough as per they will stroll to the finals without playing anyone decent then exit the tournament as soon as they do.
