Quality. First was a yellow. Players are so protected these days.

Zola - he was one of my favourite players watching football Italia on sunday mornings. Never winged, moaned or cheated - just wanted to get on and play the game. Class player.

When Football Italia started being shown in the early 90s I liked Lazio (cos of Gascoigne) and I loved Beppe Signori. Great goalscorer he was.

I named English/English-based players cos when I was a kid we didn't see much foreign football, only really in World Cups - but when we did see them I absolutely loved Michael Laudrup. That Danish team in general were great. Great Hummel kit and Preben Elkjaer up front.

Some good calls on here. Van Basten was an absolute god to me, remember seeing him score a perfect hatrick for AC once left, right, header (am sure one was an overhead kick) he would have been some player today, as he played when forwards received less protection.

From Italian footy I used to love Christian Vieri.

David Hirst is a great shout.

Closer to home, I used to love Mo Johnston. I remember when Scotland beat Spain 3-1 () he and King Kenny were dynamite up front.

What a team we had back then... 1 Jim Leighton 2 Steve Nicol 3 Arthur Albiston 4 Graeme Souness 5 Alex McLeish 6 Willie Miller 7 Kenny Dalglish 8 Paul McStay 9 Mo Johnston 10 Jim Bett 11 Davie Cooper

And Alan Hansen couldn't get in. What a joke.

                    Dublin.

Even though their team f*cked us over, I always liked Juninho and Emerson.

                    Loved Kinkladze too.

                    Viera.

                    Seedorf.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

I know, they used to go with Mcleish and Miller as they played together for Aberdeen - and Aberdeen used to be some team back then (Beating Real to win the Cup Winners cup). But Hansen is obviously one of the best CB's ever. That said I think he was injured.

What followed was the Death of Jock Stein on the touch line, and Alex Ferguson coming in as care taker and falling out with Dalglish and Hansen before the 86 world cup. None of Mo Johnson, Kenny or Hansen made the plane for Mexico... Mental.

                          Zidane.

I remember being in the pub watching this game and this goal getting a round of applause.

Miller and McLeish were a telepathic unit and one of the best central defensive partnerships around during that period. They tried playing 3 at the back with Hansen as well (82 World Cup I think), but that ended up a disaster.

Aye I get all that. Alan Hansen though. 26 caps for Scotland. 26!

I still can't believe some people were seriously suggesting Iniesta was anywhere near Zidane's level. The man was a genius, whereas Iniesta was excellent, but never an all time great.
