The subject for this thread almost needs to be split into two threads! One for home based players and the other for foreigners!

Obviously we all loved zidane and the real ronaldo etc.

I used to like Juve in the early 90s, Antonio Conte and Alessandro Del Piero were Kings for a decade. Really liked Zanetti and Dino Baggio too

Iniesta has dropped off alarmingly but between about 2008-2010 he was the ultimate big game player and, Messi aside, arguably the best in the world at the time. Amazing footballer who would boss almost every game he played (no matter how good the opponents and no matter how many amazing players he had on his side), but yes, not a genius whereas Zidane was clearly a genius.

Del Piero was one of those players I just never got. Hated his pointy sideburns and was **** almost every time I saw him.

Diego Maradona is just too obvious.

I can't really think of home based no LFC players. Its cheating to list my favourite Aberdeen players (John Hewitt, Eric Black, Theo Snelders, Hans Gillhaus, Eoin Jess), but I used to love watching Brian Laudrup when he was up at Rangers - utter genius and far too good for the SPL.

Juninho and Gianfranco Zola were brilliant. I also used to like Les Ferdinand (don't know why) and Tino Asprilla, even though I really disliked Newcastle.

Are any of you aware of the team Yugoslavia could have had in the late 90s had it not been for that pointless war ****?

Prosinecki Mijatovic Stojkovic Suker Boban Boksic Jugovic Mihajlovic Savicevic... Zahovic pick a side out of that!

Obviously the point is that this is an era of my favorite non-LFC players... Lots of others on that list from the 1998 World Cup, Slovenia NT, etc.

I used to like Yugoslavia. I remember West Germany drubbing them 4-1 at the 1990 World Cup, when Lothar Matthäus scored that amazing goal. I think Prosinecki played in that game. Savicevic and Stojkovic definitely did.

One of my favourite 'not supporting Utd' games ever this one! Henning Berg absolutely mugged,

Ah **** yeah. How could I forget Redondo? And that moment, and that game? United didn't lose at home back then and so that was an absolute joy to watch. Remember watching in the pub - LFC lads one side, United lads the other, (all of us were mates/regulars) and squaring up to each other at the end.

So so many names I can list, but I will keep it (fairly) simple:

My greatest from the past: Maradona, Zico and Zidane

                            Present: Suarez ()....BIG gap......Neymar

Other PL favourites over the years: Des Walker, Paul Gascoigne, Kinsmann

Brilliant player buzz. Injuries ruined him. But skills were unreal.
