From a club bias point of view do you think a miss like that will haunt Kane? Will it have a negative effect on his game or encourage him to kick on?

to be honest, I think it happens that quick and Kane is in that it's not as obvious a pass to tee up Sterling as it looks in the still pictures
Only really top class/aware players see "the simple pass" like that, which are actually harder than they look if it makes sense. It's a Jari Litmanen type pass if that makes sense - or Iniesta/Suarez/Messi - those sort of players who roll a ball 5 yards and it looks so simple and it completely kills of the other team - but it takes a lot of awareness/composure to seemingly have the time to not panic and play something simple
There was another incident that I found just as infuriating in the second half I think....
England where breaking and Kane picked the ball up deep and in space and his instinct was to turn and play it forward towards Alli - who it looked like was fouled when it came to him but Croatia got the ball back....
it was a difficult ball to play, it was a bit rushed and ultimatetly what was decent position to start something broke down in an instant - Had Kane not rushed, out to his right, a much simpler ball was someone charging away into acres (can't remember who, it was either Rashford or Trippier)
I was screaming for Kane to go to the right and as soon as it went forward and it broke down and turned to a mate and said right there, that's what sum's England up - that little lack of class/awareness/composure going forward.
For what it's worth - if we swapped Modric for Lingard or Alli, I think we'd have won that.Last edited by PTP; 12-07-18, 04:47 PM.i own everton fans on the internet....that's what i do

Kane scored lower than Eric Dier on the BBC supporters player rater thing. Which sums up his night.Originally posted by PTP View Postto be honest, I think it happens that quick and Kane is in that it's not as obvious a pass to tee up Sterling as it looks in the still pictures

I still winder if he is a bit of a flat track bully?
Doesn't deliver in massive game, but then that is true of many Spurs players.Modifying post.

true - I was defending him a bit in that specific situation - think it's a bit harsh to criticise saying he should have passed to sterling - in retrospect then defo the pass it is on, but heat of the moment it's not a simple as it looks
that said - he was ****ing wank most of the tournament apart from being a threat from set pieces and penalties. He looked ****ing knackered, he offered no pace, no real outlet and the last two games he was a statue.
He's clearly a top class finisher, but without Erikson supplying quality time and again, he looked lost - again, Erikson in that starting XI and we'd have probably won
Whilst I was impressed with Southgate, this is where he maybe let it slip a bit - Whilst I enjoyed the ride and wanted England to go all the way and I had one foot in the "it's coming home" camp - to be honest, I thought England where pretty **** every time I watched them.
When it wasn't working we couldn't turn it round and with Kane being static, sterling struggling to control/pass/shoot and Alli offering **** all then I think Southgate could have done with having the bollocks to go with Rashford/Loftus Cheek from the start.i own everton fans on the internet....that's what i do

Originally posted by Shaggy View PostI doubt it, he seems pretty ruthless and single-minded. Although despite his goals I thought he had a pretty crap tournament.
The first game was the only one he scored any proper goals from open play, 3 more were pens and the other was that fluke of a deflection. The only thing he offered from open play was his ability to win freekicks and penalties. I know he is regarded as England's best player but for me him and the rest of the attacking players weren't at it at all for most of the tournament. But Kane will probably end up with the golden boot. The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.
