How do people feel about Gillett/Hicks

I think the fact that the club will now be owned by OOT's for the first time, has upset a lot of people.Originally posted by REDSCOUSER View Postlets leave anti american aside H9 mate and look at it from a LFC point of view, them bloody yanks are good at business as someone else said on this thread(cant remember who). They never go into a business not wanting not to succeed. Parry & Moore saw that, recognized it and seized on it.
i thought that they were both genuine & took an interest in our club & city(used the word Scousers among other things).
Lets give them the benefit of the doubt and trust in Parry. The future is RED Heighway mate.
The new owners must realise that the Biggest asset of the club is it's Fans. They cant afford to alienate us, as we ultimately determine whether their investment is worth it or not."For whom He did foreknow, He also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of His Son"

Very very upbeat about the conference.
If anything though, you do wonder if Rafa will push the boat out on expensive 'novelty' players who can change games rather than the hard-working players he likes.

To be fair, he's trying to, but we really do have to splash out to get as good as they were IMOOriginally posted by SouthAfricaRed View PostIf he can make us play like His Valencia side, I'll be Very happy

Think you're way off there mate, and I'm an OOT.Originally posted by SouthAfricaRed View PostI think the fact that the club will now be owned by OOT's for the first time, has upset a lot of people.
Give most scousers a choice of Hicks/Gillett, Morgan or Moores most would choose Hicks/Gillett.Originally posted by Gordon Brown

He revealed that he spent much of the Canadiens’ last game on Sunday hopping between empty seats just to get to know people. He promised to do the same at Anfield.
"I love meeting people," he said. "If they want to do me harm, they don’t need to wait until match day. My name is in the phone book. Call me."

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

A lot on here are not happy, simply because the new owners are American. I wonder that if it was DIC taking over, whether people would have had the same reaction?
I think we should all just sit back and see what happens."For whom He did foreknow, He also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of His Son"

If you're talking about anti-americanism then I'd agree with you, there's quite a bit of that around.
Regarding the OOT sentiment, I think the fact that Moores and Parry are staying on in roles should dispel those fears.Originally posted by Gordon Brown

I really liked them both. They came off in a typical american way but what can you expect. They are Americans in every sense of the word. They are well connected. They know the game of sports. They have what it takes to make us go forward again.
We used to be no 1 in the world. The 80's belonged to us. With these geesers we might get up there again.
All in all a nice step in the right direction albeit 5/6 years too late. At least.

the word 'franchise' annoys me but i'm wondering whether thats just what they call sports clubs. is it a case of lost in translation rather than being something more sinister?

Gillett...
Rat faced, sleazy, talkative, suspicious looking runt. Constantly talked about us as a 'franchise', and made me cringe throughout the interview. He basically confirmed we will 'sell out' by naming our stadium the 'Adidas Arena' or other such bollocks and claimed his son was a 'goal tender'. ****ing embarrassing.
I'm ****ing terrified about all this. I've got a feeling a very large part of the clubs's soul has just died.

Definitely lost in translation. He made reference to it in subsequent interviews and said it was a mistake. He corrected himself.Originally posted by alunevans View Postthe word 'franchise' annoys me but i'm wondering whether thats just what they call sports clubs. is it a case of lost in translation rather than being something more sinister?Originally posted by Gordon Brown

Well I am not over the moon truth me be told, but then again I would be very surprised if anyone would be they way the whole thing was handled. We did not really have much time to warm to these 2. But it is done now and as long as the run the club right, keep aware of what is important to a Liverpool fc fan and keep the club special they will have my support, even if one of them is a close friend of Bush. I don’t like the look of Gillett I have to say he looks a bit shifty.
I am looking forward to a new stadium which hopefully will put all the rest to shame, I new found commercial acumen and for rafa being able to compete more in the Transfer lg, Also I would like to see us crack on in a big way in the States.
I am glad it is over and I would like to warmly welcome Tom and George to the Family, they’ll find out soon enough we are a bit special.
