The *problem* is that Eto'o is one of only handful of players in the world that can still really hurt you, whether 100% fit or 50% fit...

I think he'll start against us, and unfortunately, I think he'll score against us.

I don't understand why all the fuss with Eto'o. He's a good player yes, but nothing exceptional IMO. He's still short of match fitness if he plays, so wouldn't be a big threat to us.

There are other players to be fearful about.

        Sarky!

FYI, I was talking about his finishing style, sidefooting only.
He isn't close to Henry in terms of ability imo.

He's easily in the top five strikers in World football.

          Wonderfully gifted footballer...

          2004/05 (49 starts/ 29 goals)

Mate, they’re not half the side when Eto’o doesn’t play. They don’t have a replacement who is anywhere near as good as Eto’o. His movement is absolutely top class, he possesses searing pace and is a very good finisher. He’s also young enough to warrant a huge investment.

Last night we were talking about the risk involved in bringing players (strikers especially) in from a foreign league. I’d have worries about Villa and whether or not he’d adapt, but I wouldn’t have any worries re Eto’o.

                    HHHmmm...

I did get those stats off ESPN 'Soccernet' though! Think it might include his international goals in there..

Yes, but it will be different if he ever comes in the premier league, I can assure you of that. He'll be nowhere near these figures here. Morientes was poor in this league, now he's one of the best scorers in la liga.

Even ****ing Freddie Kanoute is doing well there !

Fair enough. Although I'm still not sure why being a side foot finisher is necissarily a factor that makes him not what we need. We need someone who scores a lot of goals and consistantly puts away most of the chances they get, how they do it I couldn't care much less to be honest.

It isn’t a hard and fast rule, you know. There will always be exceptions to your Morientes’, Kanoutes.

Eto’o would score goals over here. He’d make hay.

To be fair Kanoute did okay in his time in England, nothing special but decent. I really think that any player who can perform decent control at pace would do well in the PL. Eto'o is exception in both of those regards, so I agree with you that he would settle straight in.

The reason to why Kanoute scores a lot of goals is IMO that the players in La Liga isn't used to his playing style and that he has probably the best crosser in the world(Alves) in the same team.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

So hatrick hatricks for Cameroon against "Random small African country with no structure or tactics" are included?
