it helps when he has Ronaldinho, Guily/Messi and Xavi laying the ball on a plate for him. Anyone could score goals in Barca's team.Originally posted by anfieldanfield View PostHe's easily in the top five strikers in World football.
Wonderfully gifted footballer...
2003/04 (36 starts/ 21 goals)
2004/05 (49 starts/ 29 goals)
2005/06 (46 starts/ 32 goals)
Dont get me wrong i would love for us to sign him.....but he does miss some glaring chances. But he gets so many chances in games that he cant miss all of them.
It would be interesting to see what he could do here. We dont lay the ball on for strikers to score easy goals. If we had proper wingers that would change. So IMO our wing positions are the first things that need upgrading."When a man insults my country I insult him, by taking his woman" Tony Yeboah

a few things about this thread and the points it raises.
There seems to be some problems between ronnie and etoo, and Frank and laporta, but how much they might effect the team's performances cannot be judged yet.
lets face it without etoo and messi they are still top of the league in Spain ahead of very good Sevilla and Valencia teams.
Etoo would score goals by the bundle and is one of the best strikers in europe for me. His pace and strength would more than likely mean he would thrive in england as he has no small share of skill either.
He would walk into the Liverpool side without even trying. He may have a high opinion of himself but he backs it up with goals and top performances.
Knoute btw now plays for one of teh best attacking teams in Europe and is a skillfull player himself so its no surprise that he is scoring more tha he did for west ham or spurs. I'd agree that his style is probably more suited to spainish football but i don't think that can be said of Etoo whose attributes seem ideal for the english game.
if the argument descended into him possibly leaving barca then i'd the love US boys to back rafa if he fancied the player. I doubt it will come to this- both Frank and Ronnie are probably off to milan in the summer"At a football club, there's a holy trinity - the players, the manager and the supporters. Directors don't come into it. They are only there to sign the cheques"

No smoke without fire and all that but IMO we are kidding ourselves if we think he wont play some part against us
If he was ever to become available then IMO we should do absolutely everything in our power to get him, without a doubt one of the top 5 strikers in the world is exactly what we need.If you've lost your faith in love and music the end won't be long

I must say that I find it crazy that Rijkaard would bother saying anything to the press in the first place.
It was totally unnecessary. The whole situation is silly, and could easily have been avoided.Just when I discovered the meaning of life, they changed it

Indeed, but it's great timing from our point of view. This whole thing is unlikely to have a galvanising effect on Barca, and I think we can take advantage over there.Originally posted by Maestro View PostSimon - post more.

Hopefully we can impress Eto'o enough to give him something to think about.

Totally agree. And for a while now I've wondered why any black player would want to go and play in Italy - I was shocked, for example, when Vieira willingly went to Juventus.Originally posted by Reece View Post"both Frank and Ronnie are probably off to milan in the summer"
I really don't understand why anyone would want to go and play in Italy at the moment. Plagued with problems they are.
It's now in a worse state than it's ever been in, IMO, and can't see a single reason why any top player, any player in fact, would want to take their career to Italy. Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

i'd imagine that Rikaard being a milan legend would have somethign to do with it.and cash will probably play a part for ronnieOriginally posted by Reece View Post"both Frank and Ronnie are probably off to milan in the summer"

In ronnie's defence its some career to have played for Barcelona AND AC Milan to be fair.
Although its not a truly successful career unless you've played for us of course"At a football club, there's a holy trinity - the players, the manager and the supporters. Directors don't come into it. They are only there to sign the cheques"

Milan has apperently offered Ronaldinho that he can keep 100% of his image rights. That's worth a lot of money.Just believe and you never know what will happen.
According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

How about playing for Inter Milan, Barcelona, Real Madrid and A.C. Milan?

oh, and PSV Eindhoven...Last edited by Maestro; 14-02-07, 09:45 AM.Just when I discovered the meaning of life, they changed it

Isn't it slightly weird that he's played for Inter Milan and now their city rivals AC Milan, and Barcelona and their hated rivals Real Madrid. It never seems to be an issue in Italy, though. The number of players who play for both sides in a rivalry is remarkable - players move around between top clubs all the time. I wonder why that is?Originally posted by Maestro View PostHow about playing for Inter Milan, Barcelona, Real Madrid and A.C. Milan?

It's not an issue in Spain either really. I mean, Figo always recieved a hero's welcome upon returning to the Nou Camp with RealOriginally posted by ShaggyAlonso View PostIsn't it slightly weird that he's played for Inter Milan and now their city rivals AC Milan, and Barcelona and their hated rivals Real Madrid.
