Are Ladbrokes still offering odds?Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:
'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'
"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.

Sky Sports are still reporting that Kuyt wants to move to Newcastle:
from:Liverpool are also in the frame for Kuyt, but the striker is eager to head to Newcastle.
"I would consider a move to Liverpool, but my first choice is Newcastle," Kuyt is quoted as saying in the Daily Star.
"I know quite a bit about Newcastle, they're one of the best supported teams in the Premier League and a typical English club."

Kuyt prefers Newcastle United
By Jan Hattinga - August 13 2006
Feyenoord striker Dirk Kuyt thinks he will end up at Liverpool instead of his prefered destination Newcastle United. Kuyt would love to replace Geordie legend Alan Shearer at Newcastle but it seems unlikely that the Magpies will match Feyenoord's asking price.
Kuyt told me last week that he desperately wants to sign for Newcastle United.
"I've always wanted to be a hero, I have that status now at Feyenoord and I want to achieve that at my next club too. I know quite a bit about Newcastle, they're one of the best supported teams in the Premier League and they're a typical English club. It would be a dream to play for them."
The striker is unsure whether he will be a Toon hero next season, though.
"I know Feyenoord are asking a massive fee and I don't know if Newcastle are willing to match that."
Liverpool are more likely to take the gamble and pay Feyenoord's asking price of around £10 million.
"I would consider a move to Liverpool, they're likely to progress to the Champions League group stages, I would love to play in that competition but my first choice is Newcastle."

No Gravesen & Ribery for Spurs
By Kees Ruft - August 10 2006
North-London mega side Tottenham Hotspur will not be signing, Newcastle United target, Thomas Gravesen. The Danish midfielder is close to a move away from Real Madrid, after his training ground bust up with Brazilian wonderkid Robinho, last week.
Gravesen told Danish paper Daily Knackebrød that he doesn't want to play for Spurs because of his allergy of potatoes. He also stated that when Newcastle United came in he had no hesitation to snub Spurs and start talks with the North-East club.
The tenacious midfielder is just one of the many players who rejected Spurs in favour of Newcastle United over the past few years. Belozoglu Emre, Scott Parker and Damien Duff are just a few of the others who did the same in the past.
Today, we can also reveal that Marseille midfielder Franck Ribery is a non-starter. The energetic midfielder has no desire to join Spurs and said he would rather join, Spurs rivals, Portsmouth or Wigan.
And another:
Spurs fear new snub
By Jimmy Oliver - August 9 2006
North-London giants Tottenham Hotspuds have confirmed they are not interested in signing Inter Milan striker Obafemi Martins. The 21-year old Nigerian is subject of transfer speculation with Premiership clubs Newcastle United, Chelsea, Portsmouth and Spurs being linked over the weekend.
The pacey forward asked for a transfer earlier this week and is set to leave the Italian champions due the arrival of Hernan Crespo.
Tottenham Hotspur was reportedly interested but when they heard of Newcastle United's interest they decided to withdrawn all negotiations.
According to a Tottenham spokesman the club wanted to avoid another snub in favour of Newcastle United.
and another:
Dutch survey: Spurs a small club
By Brenzalot - July 27 2006
According to a big survey in Holland and Belgium, North-London outfit, Totenham Hotspur are a small club. Thousands of people were asked to fill in the survey, all across the lowlands.
Many people didn't even know the name Tottenham Hotspur, the club who are well known for being snubbed by a series of players.
5% of the questioned people didn't know the London based club, 77% think Spurs are an average Premiership side, 8% of the people say the club are Englands 6th club after England big guns Manchester United, Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool and Newcastle United. And finally 10% think Spurs are an Icehockey team.
The outcome of the survey isn't very surprising but confirms Tottenham's status as a small club.

Reds close in on Kuyt
Aug 16 2006
By Chris Bascombe, Liverpool Echo
DIRK KUYT'S future will be resolved over the next 24 hours, as Liverpool edge closer to an agreement with Feyenoord.
Kuyt is on international duty with Holland, but negotiations have intensified behind the scenes with further talks today crucial if the transfer is to go ahead.
Feyenoord have continuously stood by their valuation of £10m, having so far rejected a player-plus-cash offer.
The Reds have made a bid in the region of £8m for the striker, and are also prepared to offer Jan Kromkamp as part of the deal.
Dutchman Kromkamp was left out of the Liverpool squad which travelled to Cardiff at the weekend, but has been pencilled in to play for the reserves in Lincoln tonight.
Having been informed by Kuyt he wants to move to Anfield, Feyenoord have become increasingly resigned to losing the striker.
If the Kromkamp swap remains a no-go, the key to the conclusion of the deal is whether Liverpool are prepared to makea straight £10m offer for Kuyt, or whether payments can be structured in a manner the Reds can afford.
However, it'snow clear Benitez is tantalisinglyclose to securing the signature of a player he's chased for two seasons.
The Dutchman is likely to be a Liverpool player in time to join the squad for the Premiership opener with Sheffield United on Saturday.
