Dare I say it but I'm starting to sour on Kuyt just a little bit.

Felt my initial instincts were correct about him. Good player, decent at everything, exceptional at nothing apart from his workrate.

That said in no way shape or form do I think that Berbatov would have been better for us that Kuyt has been to date.

Kuyt has played the whole season as second striker in a new league. I'm surprised so many people are judging him so early on in his liverpool career.

If he was being played as an out and out striker you'd see a different player.

I'm not saying you're wrong mate - I agree - but people say the same about Bellamy. "He's a forward, not a striker" - which begs the question: why aren't we playing with a single out and out centre-forward?

A second striker in Kuyt, who virtually plays like a midfielder, and Bellamy, a forward who spends most of his time down the channels.

No wonder we don't score enough goals.

I agree, I think if we were able to dominate games in wide positions as well as in the middle of the park we'd see two completely different strikers...

They have been my thoughts exactly of late. Why don't we have a dedicated striker doing a strikers job? I'm sure either one of Kuyt or Bellers could be given the specific job of hanging around as close to the box he can get with the intent to score.

I know Rafa likes his players to contribute everywhere on the pitch. If a player was just waiting up front, or 'goal hanging', he probably thinks his tactics would be nullified straight away and he wants to be more tactical than that?

One event that sticks in my mind that shows we may over complicate things, is when Fowler was about to come on as sub that time and Rafa was giving instructions for about 30 seconds, then Robbie jogged a little, got ready, but Rafa carried on yapping in his ear and Robbie pulled a face that said "FFS, just let me get on there and score a goal for ya".

Fowler wanted to do a strikers job that night but obviously had instructions to do otherwise. Which makes me worry a tad that our other front men also recieve such complicated instructions.

An Instictive striker we certainly need, but surely if we do get one, he should be left to do just that......score goals?

I'd rather you didn't. It lessens your credibility. Kuyty is great.
I'm playing all the right notes. Not necessarily in the right order. I'll give you that, sunshine.

Am I the only one starting to vomit at all these Berbatov love-ins?

Yes he's on form but who does he play for?

                    .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

I'm glad Voronin is doing OK. Other than the fact that he is free, it seems a strange signing, though. I expect it spells the end of Crouch or Bellamy this summer as I think we will bring in another striker with a higher strike-rate.

                            Thanks simey.

In the UEFA Cup against, er, who? Barca wasn't it?

Oh no, sorry, my mistake, Braga, an also-ran in the mighty Portuguese league.

I'm not saying he shouldn't be admired, perhaps even coveted, but all these comparisons with Kuyt have outlived their usefulness.

Crouch looked top class at Southampton, Bellamy did at Blackburn and they both scored more goals than they did at Anfield. Go figure.

Yes we create chances, but our forwards get far less space than they did at their previous clubs.

Kuyt has scored 9 goals in the prem so far, in his first season. He also contributes with his hard work. There is no stats what so ever to suggest Berbatov would do a better job. Ive seen him miss some sitters this year I can tell you and he can also be pretty lazy and lethargic. Hes a good player, but maybe not the answer to our prayers.
