I can't help but feel that we are slightly over blowing this. There is no doubt a serious issue at the heart of Rafas outburst but I think it was also the act of an emotional man who probably feels the season has been a failure after the defeat in Athens. Which is only right.

He obviously wants a new way of doing business to come in but the signing of Lucas indicates that we have someone to sign the smaller cheques at least. I think the need to move this second is is slightly exaggerated with some leagues not even finished yet - a lot of big teams from which our targets will mostly come won't countenance business beore they know what competitions they will be in, whether they will be keeping their manager etc.

If nothing has happened a week or so after the end of the Spanish league then we can fairly say there is a problem. Until then I think that Rafa was probably trying to make people move at his pace - he wants to know who he will have in his squad and if some of his more audacious plans will come off. Which is fair enough, I wish he hadn't done this so publicly but if he felt the only way to make the new owners see the need to move quickly then I guess he may be proved right.

I have a suspicion that more than a few teams will hold on to their top asets if we have ahad a word in the hope of getting top dollar from us anyway. I think our previous record of over paying and the new investment + the Sky TV deal have seen to that.

Rafa's a smart man. He uses the media to get what he wants and although I hate reading his outbursts, if the end result is that it gives the Yanks a kick up the arse and we sign top class players then we'll all be happy.

But I would say Rafa's put an awful lot of pressure on himself with his latest outburst. He's made the Yanks look bad publicly and if they turn around and hand over all the cash and in the time frame Rafa wants and we don't challenge for the premiership next season then he may find himself in trouble.

I still think Parry will be gone as soon as Foster get his work permit. You can't discuss transfers for months anymore with a lot of clubs having a lot of money.

The question is why Gerrard and Carra hasn't signed new deals yet? The answer is that Parry want to wait for some unknown reason. You can't work in that way anymore. You must tie up contract and deals very quick now or risk losing the player that want to sign the deal or the player you want to sign.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

                How do you know that?

Surely any number of factors could be at play. For a start if we are about to start a major recruitment drive every player will want to wait to see if other players coming in get better terms and then to have them matched. Conversely if say Gerrard wants to have his salary matched to the highest earner at the club then the club may wish to see what value that is so that they can find the optimal way of doing it - sorting out tax loopholes etc. so that the club has the minimum expenditure to give the player the take home wage he wants.

I have to admit, I can't see Parry keeping hold of his job for much longer.

Gerrard said two weeks ago. Give me the paper I'll sign! Yet it still hasn't happened. It's definitely the club slowing the process down (Hence Rafa's rant).

Gerrard said that he will sign the deal right now if he had a chance to do it. Parry is our CEO and said that he want to wait(no rush).

You are very quick to believe what players say to the media. I have to say I'm much more cynical.

Rafa wants the players to sign. The players want to sign. And Parry comes out to say there's 'no rush'. This is pretty typical of the way he works. There's never any rush with Parry and it's because of his relaxed attitude that we almost lost Stevie last time. If he hasn't learnt his lesson by now then he'll never learn.

Actually it was a press conference and I saw Stevie say the words. You are right you are too cynical.

Mate, if you think Gerrard's plea wasn't genuine then you're very much mistaken.
