But trains could run from Lime Street/Edge Hill, and not Kirkdale there is enough space at Edge Hill to even build a big car park for Park n Ride

From town would be great but that line dont go anywhere near town. I dont know how it'd work really. That freight line would have to be raised about 50feet for it to be on the same level as the Northern line and that'd take some time and cost a bomb and I spose they'd have to pay costs to the firms that use the freight line as it damages their businesses. It'd probably be chaeper to build a whole new line from Kirkdale up to Anfield.

Its not the same line though. Its a freight line that runs from the Dock in Bootle to Garston Dock and then on to runcorn etc. Freightliner in Gartson use it mainly.

It was all going to be linked by the tram system but that was ditched to pay for the London Olympics

Now if we actually had our Trams one route could just go to Anfield.

Its the Dock Branch line (rarely used nowdays) that runs from Edge Hill to the Docks at Bootle
you could run a shuttle service from Bootle Oriel Rd station to the new station by the ground then carry on to Edge Hill or Lime St, then return.
there has been feasibility studies done, but i don't know of costs or anything but there is the scope for it

I am sure there is a link to it from Edge Hill, there is a branch line that goes off in that direction through a tunnel and I cant see it going anywhere else

                        Nice one, Nobby.
                        .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

the transit infrastructure in liverpool should be rebuilt and paid for by the government and furthermore upon completion it should be free. you want to eliminate greenhouse gases? give people incentive to ride the best public transportation they can possibly get. its a cheaper alternative in the long run than global warming i wouldent have to bunk it neither

Oriel Road is being done up right now. Also, Sefton Corpy have just narrowed the road there. Its also a bit far from the ground though. Also only the Southport train runs past. Thats 1 in every 3 trains. Atleast Sandhills has all 3 lines through it, thats why they use it now.
