Anybody who wants a stadium like the Boca one obviously goes to the match dry. I'd **** myself being pissed in stands that steep. I remember going on the ale all day before a derby and having to go in the Top Balcony in Goodison I was paying good money for a severe case of vertigo

Here's the latest on that front from NYR (YNWA):

Here's the deal right now from what I can gather. I wrote it briefly last night when I had the time but I'll expand on it a little now.

The stadium presently is at 61,000 with 1,000 of those seats being for buffer zones between fans.

The negotiations will shortly be under way to increase the capacity to 68,000 (same buffers) all within the present footprint which has been approved. The 7,000 extra seats will be added on the sides.

The design of the stadium will allow expension for up to 80,000 though 76,000 is a more likely number. My conjecture is that these will be added seats in the ends, so we will have pretty much the finished product on the sidelines.

During construction and after the opening, an ongoing environmental impact statement will be put together to hammer out the details of the increased capacity. It won't be easy. My guess is that Tom and George will have to foot the bill for quite a lot of infrastrcuture improvements as part of any deal.

My analogy with the Bombanera was my own, and probably a bit misleading. The bottom line is that this stadium will be a very high one, much higher than what we are used to at Anfield. But, I don't think it will architecturally be like the Bombanera. The triple stand and the steepness of the stands will probably be impossible to create in Liverpool. Safety restrictions won't allow it. Honestly, that Argie stadium may have great atmosphere but it looks like a death trap to me.

Look for an emphasis on the club seats and the luxury boxes. They are the driving force for making the place an economic success. In effect, they'll subsidize the rest of the stadium. They are also a pet favourite of our owners and the experts in the background.

A team will be heading over tomorrow to get the ball rolling on things. The financing plan isn't finalized yet, but there are two teams in the picture for it.

        Amen to that brother.

Next year's Capital of Culcher will prove that no doubt.

I think if we can do that in the mean time, that's perfect, it's just over 50% bigger than Anfield is currently and we can test the water from there and see how demand is once that's built.

I'd rather see a 68k stadium full or nearly full every game, than an 80,000 stadium with 10k empty seats every week or other week.

I wish people would get this season ticket waiting list figure out of their heads, out of 50k I bet not even 20k will take up the chance, probably not even 10k, a lot of people will have gone on the list half-heartidly in frustration to not getting tickets for odd games, some people will have changed their minds, some will just have changed circumstances in their lives.

For example, I've been on the list near enough 10 years, since then I've got a house and a little girl and work a job with un-sociable hours, plus we didn't even have a new stadium planned or approved at the time, so now I know we will have a stadium at say 68k or above, then it would be much easier for me to pick and chose which games to go to, the same as a lot of other people who've put their names down, especially those who don't live in or around the city, knowing you coulod get tickets easily would lessent he demand for season tickets.

All I'm saying is in summary is that 50-60k may have put their names down for season ticket but I bet the real demand for tickets will be nearer 10k, just cause we've got a 45k stadium now and 50k on the waiting list doess't mean we should have a 80k stadium, get real, we don't even fill the stadium for early CL games or some midweek games, where's all those 50 thousand people on those days who are dying to see their team?

We'd be a laughing stock if we built a 80k stadium and had 10k empty seats, I think 68k with expansion capacity is perfect. Mist of you just want an 80k stadium just to say we have, using all these figures plucked out of thin air without thinking of real life issues and in all honesty not thinking about it before spouting off.
