Owen again... do not read if you hate Owen!!

Right, before everyone starts abusing me can I just say I personally do not give a fuk if Owen is signed or not, BUT could he rejoin?

RP has stated that "If a player becomes available and he's the right player for this club then yes we will be interested."

Owen is technically available until midnight tomorrow for 9 million. Good value?

Rafa did try and sign him last year for a similar amount of money. FACT.

Arguably the game v Pompey and the comments after the game by Rafa and the players indicate a frustration still exists about how we are not taking our chances. Fact is we still do not possess an out and out goalscorer do we?

It may be a long shot, but I would not be surprised if we make our move very soon in his direction...

Cue torrent of abuse and one liners......

I think people are reading too much into the Pompey game.

£9m is a big gamble for Owen and to be honest I think too much is being made of this release fee. After tomorrow there is every chance that as he doesn't really fit the Alladyce plan and is very injury prone he would be available for a not entirely disimilar amount.

If we get another attacking player in I want it to be a goals scoring winger who can play on either flank.

9m yes, with a full season under his belt pretty much injury free. At this point in time it would be a gamble, given he has only played a handful of games in the last 2 years.

I remember the kid who burst on to the scene as a 17 year old, and took the league and the World Cup by storm, the kid who single-handedly won us the FA Cup, who deservedly won the Ballon D'Or at 21, and compare to him now, and I do almost feel sorry for what has become of him. It was funny at first, but being at Newcastle makes it almost a tragedy.

we've already got 4 strikers and a young lad who fancies himself as one, so i don't think we'll buy him back .

i often said i would re-sign him as he represents good value in todays transfer market............. rafa does not want him, he is probably past his best and is injury prone....

dont hate him but it aint going to happen imo

Can't see it myself, isn't he injured again at the moment and has only played in NEWC's 1st pre season game so far?

Plus wasn't there something on here about Rafa blocking a deal to bring him back just a month or so ago?

Plus we have 4 strikers and Babel all fighting for places.

Again, its not going to happen, he'll stay at Newcastle because in my opinion he owes alot to them for sticking by him in his injury, paying his huge wages etc

Won't happen, he wouldn't be happy keeping the bench warm. Plus we don't need him.

                              Kuyt
