I honestly think they will drop at least two points. Portsmouth wont be an easy place to go and City is always a hard game. I predicted a good season for City and got slated for it in another thread just because people refuse to accept Sven might do ok. He’s bought some decent players, seems to have got his tactics right on Saturday, and if he can get a win tomorrow, City should be pretty confident approaching the match.

Add the fact that Rooney was a major blow to United, I really don’t see why not. People have to take United of this pedestal and realise they are very beatable.

Why dare I ask, mightn't they drop points?
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

Its a bigger game for us than it is for them.

If we lose it will massively knock our confidence and give the chavs a jump start on us (likely it would put them on 9 points and we would be on 3).

If we win it massively boosts our confidence and gives us real belief that we can mount a challenge.

If Chelsea lose it wont have the same affect on their confidence as they already have that belief.

What do you think people?, looking forward to it that is for sure
Every point you made is valid, also, it is a 6 pointer, even at this early stage.
            A win is hugely important.
Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:
'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'

"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.

I agree. A draw would be a decent result at theirs but not at home. A defeat wouldn't be the end of the world but it wouldn't be a good sign. Maureen's record in home league matches shows why that's important..no defeats, four championships in four years.

Vey importa.t but not the end of the world if we lose.

Have no idea what whose going to play. The back 5 picks itself, but after that I have no idea who is paying and where.

I can live with a draw. However for us to seriously challenge we must take all 3 pts at home against the Chavs, Arse & Scum.

@ home a draw is not good enough. Away maybe it is ok. But at home we must (and will) win!!!!!!!!!!!

Man United drew at home to Chelsea last season and won the league.

It is NOT must win. Yeah we'd all love to win but don't be depressed if we draw.

Of course it's very important, IF we win they lose three points. It will not happen often during the season that Liverpool wins and Chelsea loses.
                          * The above is posted in my opinion. Feel free to disagree.

It's extremely important that we win as it's another three points gained and it also shows we mean business this season by beating one of the favourites for the title.

Beating Chelsea at this stage of the season would be fantastic and would signal to the others what LFC is about this time around. We need to win these games if we have any hopes of winning the title.

This game is dead important, don't give a **** how we win it, just that we win it. Real Madrid won the league last season by fluky goals and lucky wins even though they were getting played off the park. I don't care if they play us off the park and we win. It happened so many times to us in the past. The league isn't about pretty stuff, it's about winning games over a long period of time. I appreciate grinding a result just as much as I do a fluent performance. If we can win this game playing piss poor it'll also make me think if we unlock our potential and play well what would our capacity to win games be then.

I hate it when we play Sissoko and Mascherano together. If Mascherano is ready he has to play. If he's not then Sissoko and Alonso with Gerrard on the right/SS. If he is then el Jefe and Gerrard or Alonso with Gerrard playing off of Torres or on the right.

For the scenario in this game he is a must have.

its not a must win at all, its a must not lose (and even then we could easily win the league)........id be happy with a good performance and a draw to be honest.
