It's not but I really think due to the timing it would be hugely beneficial to win. In the last few season our start has cost us and to win 2 out of two with one being Chelsea would be a massive psychological boost.

It is certainly a musn't loose match in my eyes and anything other than a victory will make me disappointed.

Its deffo not a must win but would be a massive psychological boost to the team if we did.
The Terry and Essien injuries should be regarded as a bluff, same as Maureen has done on numerous occasions, ill believe it when i see the teamsheet.
Crouch shouldnt start this game IMO, he gets bullied by Terry and never plays well against them, this isnt the game for him.
Wouldnt be at all surprised to see Gerrard start on the right.
Torres and Kuyt up front to start.
If you've lost your faith in love and music the end won't be long

No brainer for me - we must win, we can't afford to be playing our rivals at a packed Anfield with a mindset of a draw would be fine, as then they'll beat us.

And for all those putting Babel on the left haven't you realised he is predominantly a rw/striker, he looks a lot more comfortable on the right than he did pre-season on the left.
Gerro in the centre as well for me please.

Your too good to be true, can't take the ball off you you got a heavenly touch, you pass like Sounness to rush. And when we're pissed in the bars we thank the Lord that your ours

That's how important it is. It's HUGE.

It could represent a chance for us to steal a march on the Mancs too - I can see them slipping up at Pompey tomorrow night and I can definitely see them losing points at Citeh before we entertain Chelsea.

          Bring it on.
It's big but not the end of the world should we get beat, there will still be 36 games to go.
I hate playing the ****ers I really do but I don't care who or how we score the winner as long as we do.
(I think we'll do them by the way.)

A win would be fantastic but a draw would suffice. A draw against one of the top teams should not mean doom and gloom!

I've changed my mind after United's latest **** up

                MUST WIN!!!!!!!!!!!

City beat Scum and we beat Chelsea we'll be 4 clear with a game in hand.

It's a must win game. If we beat them, we'll have the mancs and Chelsea chasing US this time.

Every game is a must win game but this one will be more important because we can get a four point advantage over United with one game in hand if they lose against City.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

                        Ahem,

Now what are the chances of United dropping points against Portsmouth, even all the Sky Sports presenters predicted they would win??? :whatever:
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

Being a member of a polish betting forum I love what I see there. The odds of 6/4 for us to win are considered as a gift from bookies. And this is said by people who put their money where the mouth is. One very good punter wrote: " Chelsea had problem to beat mediocre Reading so what can they expect from a battle against GIANTS of english football?

Call me an optimist but this time I do believe that not only we can but we should win on Sunday. We are their boogey team, they should dream about getting a point.

In time to come Sunday 19th of August will be seen as a turning point on the road to NUMBER 19 after we smash them.

If we beat them we'll be level on points with the Chavs and if Citeh get a point (which is entirely possible the way they and Utd have started) we'll be 3 ahead of Scum, both with a game in hand. Need to win. Especially if we are to be without SG for the next few weeks after the Chavs game. The possibilty of being 3 and 4 points ahead of our main rivals after only 3 games at this stage of the aseason shouldn't be underestimated from a psychological perspective.

It's hugely important. We need to beat them if we're serious about winning the league. Rafa's record against the top sides is woeful, especially his record against Chelsea where we've lost 5 out of 6 league games...that really is a terrible record.

Yeah, sure you can say oh woes us.....

Or you could say we both beat each other twice last year AND we beat them in the biggest game we had against an English side last year when it mattered.
