See, I disagree that he was immense today, but he certainly played well. Unfortunately mate on this site you will come across your fair share of people who have an agenda or like I pointed out in my post's last week after inexplicabley Kuyt was getting verbally battered after his performance at Villa, there's just some people who don't know what the **** they're on about.

The arguement people have at the moment that he should be judged on his goals and like i've just put in my previous post in this thread that's ovbisouly what's happening cause he finished last season as our top ****ing goal scorer.

Anyway: "kuyt was ****ing immense today and anyone who didn't notice is simply ****ing stupid."- I like your style

Maybe so but Cisse's attiitude was terrible. Kuyt works his bollocks off for Liverpool.

Typical. But we won't miss Kuyt until he's gone (not 'gone' gone but just out for a couple of games).

As Sarah pointed out, he works his bollocks for the team and keeps the ball in the opponenet's half, whereas others would probably shoot (miss), give it away or pass it back.

I like Kuyt more than Crouchie, but less than Torres and THE CROW

I think for his limitations - pace and touch being the main ones - Kuyt can be effective if played in the right manner.

Last season his partnership with Crouch yielded 12 wins in 15 starts, but with Bellamy it was only 9 in 20. With someone playing that target man role he is able to be more positive as a striker, when we don't have that and he take it upon himself to figure in the play he ends up coming deep, going wide and doing everything but getting stuck in around the box.

I don't blame Kuyt for the failure to win today so please don't accuse me of Kuyt bashing. I just genuinely don't think that Rafa plays him in a way that would get the most out of what he is and because too much is asked of him he ends up struggling to make the impact he is capable of.

            What a wonderful idea.

Let him sit on the bench and re-discover his touch.

            Genius.

possibly the most sensible thread yet will also say this. with what i saw of voronin in the villa game last week, he has some way to go before he catches up with the pace of the prem

it makes no difference if im right or wrong, whats matters is the manager continues to include kuyt in the line up ahead of crouch and voronin and thats good enough for me. any gob****e that is already talking about resting players and crying about a lack of goals 2 games into the season should **** off and get a season ticket for the mancs who apparently are also in crisis mode 3 games into the season. for you nobs out there that havent got a clue about football, crouch could not play the role kuyt plays in the managers system and you will rarely see torres and any other striker BOTH leading the line under rafas system. crouch will replace torres when rested and voronin/ babel will replace kuyt.

What a boring debate ! Will we have to endure that after each match ?

Kuyt does far far too much of his work outside of the box for him to be effective as a striker.
Too many times Torres will be working the channels and the ball will be put into the box and Kuyt is 20 yards away.
Its just not good enough IMO, if we play 2 up front then when 1 is out wide the 2nd one gets into the box to become the goal threat, thats basic forward play and Kuyt doesnt do that.
Good work rate is the bare minimum that shoud be accepted from a Liverpool player and is nowhere near enough to warrant a regular place in the first 11 of a team that is challenging for the title. You have to have more than that at the top level and I just dont think Dirk has it in his locker to be anymore than a stone average footballer with a pig of a first touch, no movement or pace but will work his arse off for you.
If you've lost your faith in love and music the end won't be long

He'll improve. He's an intelligent player and is the better foil for Torres in the current crop of forwards we have. If we're going to win the league we will have to make do with Kuyt and al.

What's the point bigging us up as possible league winners if we're criticizing players such as Kuyt as not being good enough ?

Kuyt is a great player and his best work cannot be judged in goals but through the hard work he's putting in each game.

I probably wouldn't be a mod for long if I said what I wanted to say on this thread. Suffice to say I think there's a lot of absolute horse **** being talked about Kuyt at the moment. Some people have just had doubts for a while which is fair enough, game of opinions etc, but others are just being stupid reactionary twunts.
