It was and still is a win / win situation for us. Heinze can still appeal and if he choses to can take the case to court, UEFA, Brussels wherever! The more time he drags united through the courts the more damage he does them. The ruling from what I've read says that it was "Implied" in the letter and then confirmed in subsequent letters that he wouldn't be sold to a premiership club. If this is true then I'm sure he'd win a court case. He can't be prevented from working in this country, it's not the wild west where you drive someone outa town.
if we decide to move on and buy Chiellini or someone else, I hope he sues united for damaging his chances to work for the greatest club in the country, and I hope whiskey breath is eventually shown up for the sour, biggotted nob that he is.

I'd wait until after the appeal hearing.(if he decides to appeal against the decision)

A lot of people seemed to think we would win, yes.

Surely the information that has just been released shows that the letter was nowhere near conclusive as made out previously?

i think that it is great news we lost.

I also think that if it was for ronaldo it would be great news we lost

                why?

if we win what are the implications for all football?

well as discussed at somewhere earlier in this thread could we have a new bosman on our hands?

i know the argument about where else are you forced to see out your contract? well good point but i would argue that they are rewarded well for this quirk of the football world. also if you give players cart blanch to rip up contracts and go where they want. what if chelski tap up a player for more money than we can afford. what could we do? nothing at least now there is an almighty bust up before the inevitable.

(this post is mainly about going to court and the transfer system being brought down)

if its a simple case of i said i would let you go if we got a bid of X then thats clearly not the end of the transfer system etc . and on that basis i would have prefered to win

                hope that makes sense lol!

Can't say I'm too unhappy about this outcome.

Heinze goes back to the Scum full of bitterness and we find a better, younger defender as a replacement.

It's a win win situation surely.

Its a big blow this in my view. Whatever anyone on here tinks of Heinze, Rafa clearly wanted him and this now looks very unlikely. Whenever rafa doesn't get a player he wants, its got to be a blow to the club.

Actually, I don't think it's such a win win situation. I'm not going to keep on bragging about it, but Heinze would need zilch adjustment. He's a top top international player, he speaks Spanish, he's a proper defender...

If Carra or Agger injure themselves, we've got Hyypia. For one game, that's fair enough, for a string of games - no ****ing way.

Who would we get in for 6.8 million who'd be able to slot in straight away? At CB and LB?

At LB we have Riise, who's ****ing poor at LB, Arbeloa (who's class) and that's pretty much it. Aurelio ain't back til September, he'll need time to get back up to match-fitness and then he'll get injured 2 months down the line - AGAIN.

People keep wanking on about 'Will he be able to adapt to the Prem' as their main sticky point of getting foreigners in (who will be the only ones cheap enough - or name me a proper premiership defender we could get for 6.8million to slot in seamlessly).

Those are my concerns. Not that it's over yet, but I think Heinze would have been perfect.

Anyways, what the hell do I know about anything in footie!

I understand where you're coming from regarding adapting to the prem' but if you follow that argument through we should have bought Bent rather than Torres.

The Heinze of two seasons ago would have been one of the first names on the team sheet but from what I've seen of him recently (Copa America) I don't see that he's necessarily a better option than someone who may not have played in the prem' but who is 5 years younger and considerably better.

                              Then again what do I know about football either. . . . . .

I'm just trying to think, whom one could pick up for that amount of money. Any ideas?

(Also, concerning the Copa. I haven't watched it myself, but have heard his being poor, however I have the belief Rafa would (have) get (gotten) the best out of Heinze again. Otherwise I doubt Rafa would have made such a deal out of getting him. What Fergie might consider 'Old goods' Rafa might just see as 'the missing link'.

No idea really, I ain't the gaffer
