Astonishingly, there were a number of Reds across the forums who actually badly wanted us to buy Bent ahead of Torres.

(Also, concerning the Copa. I haven't watched it myself, but have heard his being poor, however I have the belief Rafa would (have) get (gotten) the best out of Heinze again. Otherwise I doubt Rafa would have made such a deal out of getting him. What Fergie might consider 'Old goods' Rafa might just see as 'the missing link'.

No idea really, I ain't the gaffer

I'm not sure if Rafa wants a back up central defender or a back up left back so I'm inclined to duck this question. I'm just not sure Heinze would do either especially well these days.

Some may mock but I really think that we could have done worse than pick up Distin on a free if the role is essentially as back up to Carra and Agger.

        You can

I'm not arsed. I prefered Chiellini anyway. I don't think Rafa will wait around for him now, he'll go and sign an alternative (maybe Chiellini) and Heinze will go abroad without any fuss (maybe to Juve).

I can't say that I'm suprised that he's not been allowed to come here. He would have been a decent signing but we'll find someone else.

check this out for mancwank - the response from second clueless ****wit actually pays us a compliment instead of insulting us and the third - well , "delusion" covers it i guess.

must say i'm a bit disappointed, because i thought he would have been a good signing

It does surprise me that he didn't win, the way i understood it, he could have bought out his contract but didn't because he got written confirmation from the club that they would let him move on. Now if he'd bought out his contract they couldn't have done bugger all about it, so why should they be able to screw him over in this manner.

Feel a bit sorry for him now, because his fans will turn on him and i'm sure his colleagues will have a bit of a problem with him, i'm certain he'll move to another club now which is unfortunate if he didn't really want to leave. It's a pity we can't get another club to buy him and then get them to sell him on or loan him to us.

Take him or leave him. Better than what we've got at at the moment at left back but not outstanding. On to the next target please.

He'll just make sure jhe puts his request in to buy his contract out now either in Jan (if possible) or within 14 days of the end of this season. If he's on £65,000 a week that will have fallen to £5.6m by 01 Jan 08

Nope, I reckonh ne'll be booted out before September 1st for about 4 million to a foreign club. That's the way Fergie works, if you piss him off, you're out.

It would be hilarious if we did buy or loan him immediately from whichever club buys him then (assuming he didn't actually play for that club).

I think this was more embarrassing for slur than anyone else. Rafa was willing to deal with the mancs and they refused to deal with us. To me that makes them look small time.

Thank the lord jesus, Mary and the orphans this saga ended. I never wanted Heinze anyways.
Maybe now we can go for Chiellini who is much younger, fitter and able player than Heinze.
