He shot at Sunderland without the "aid" of thousands of Kopites shouting "shoot" so perhaps this top-level professional footballer is capable of making his own decisions without heeding the mock advice from the Kop.

Mascherano suits Gerrard better, I think that much is clear. Xabi still has a role to play in the squad, but at the moment I genuinely do feel he is second fiddle to Masher and Gerrard.

I was also immensely impressed with Momo last night, I have to say. That boy still has a lot to offer.

In the long term, there's no way we can keep FIVE central midfielders happy. We will have to sell one next summer.
