Nope...read the interview with Pako. Rafa is open minded and often asks of the opinion of his staff. He relies on them to give him input, not just to nod.

I'm sorry to hear Pako has gone but no-one is bigger than the club and we have to move on to replace him.

Two names spring to mind: Gary McAllister and Sammy Lee.

The heart says Gary Macca but the head says Sammy Lee because he's a very well respected coach with all his FA badges and he speaks Spanish from his days at Osasuna.

Macca is available as he's just doing media work but it might still be too soon after the sad loss of his wife. Sammy's managerial career didn't get off to the best of starts and he could be looking for a new job soon.

Gaz Mac is a good shout, Rafa wanted to bring him in as part of the reserve setup last year but like you said it was too soon after the death of his wife. I think this might be the right time to approach him again, he'd definately be an asset to the club.

Gutted Pako is leaving though, hopefully Rafa will sit down with him and try and resolve these issues

Gkmacca has made a right tit of himself with these comments frankly.

As for Pako's replacement, I don't think Rafa will want a yes man. He'll obviously want someone who shares his vision reasonably closesly but also offers a different perspectives on it. As long as they're prepared to let Rafa have the final say that isn't a problem.
