That's exactly what religion does. It brainwashes people from an early age. All religion is a hurtful, controlling force. Ask Catholic believers about the guilt forced upon them by the priests they trust.

I don't see why people had any problem with him not playing. It's one day of the year. It's his religion which funnily enough might mean more to him than football (yes, shock horror). Why should he be forced to play? Do the same people think that Sikhs should be forced to take off their turbans and wear normal police helmets because it's their job and why should they be any different? I wish people showed a bit more respect for others. That goes for some of the posters here as well.

I'm a catholic and go to mass evert weekend and around Easter time for example the lack of people respecting not eating meat on Ash Wednesday or not drinking is frightening its just one day of the year surely they can do it.
