    No worries.

Maybe this thread was a delayed knee-jerk reaction, but I just want Rafa and Stevie to love each other in the way Terry/Mourinho, Wenger/Henry, Fergie/Keane - strong relationships.

I am just genuinely worried that all is not well between them and wanted to gauge the feelings of fellow reds. It is clear from the poll results that Rafa is perceived to be more important to our future success than Stevie.

      Nice one mate,

I tell ya anyone who thinks Stevie G is more important to Liverpool FC than a manager of Rafa's class need there head seeing too.

I have all the time in the world for our beloved captain, but he is one player in a team playing for a club supported by the fans

I ****ing love that Rafa took Stevie G at the weekend... Shows he has the ****ing Minerals to do what is required to get the job done ..

        Sad.

That is all. It's boredom, surely.

That's it isn't it, were all just too bloody bored. Everyone is losing it.

Nicey, I agree with your sentiments regarding the general dive to hammer somebody in the team/club when we lose a game/put in a bad performance. It's probably a large part of why I don't (and never have) posted that often. It does get a little tiresome....although it's probably a trait of the times we live in.

Having said that, there is always the poster(s) willing to knock any critical analysis of the LFC malaise that we invariably find ourselves in from time to time over the past (insert your own number here) years. And this 'knocking' comes easy when you're in no doubt that you're defending the majority view held on a Forum such as this.

So here's the thing, I voted Gerrard to stay - but it was a close run thing. Frankly (pun intended, yes) I can't see Benitez winning the trophy most of us want to see return to it's natural home because I don't see him getting the 'feel' or 'sense' of what wins the English League. He's not playing the right game. Some of his buys and the, ahem, 'chopping & changing' policey don't help either - but, fundamentally, I don't think his football will win us the league. Please god let me be wrong, but I know what I feel.

Having said that, for some time I haven't really subscribed to the 'Gerrard is wonderful' sentiment either. Sometimes he's amazing. But sometimes I wonder whether he has to be amazing because he's otherwise an impediment to the general team play (you might include England here too).

So I know the waves of 'extreme' views cropping up here and there can be frustrating at the very least, but some of us have a view of what's in front of us that's not quite as rosey as others and we feel it needs to be said.

I know it won't change anything but it feels good to get it off your chest.

          Frank
          Francis.

...."Any team that concedes as few goals as we concede is going to be tough to play against..." - Fernando Torres on Liverpool

And when I say 'play Gerrard on the left', I mean on the left

No world class manager would ever set foot in Anfield if they knew that there was one player in dressing room who wielded the power to overrule him. World class managers want absolute power. Capello quit Roma over Totti. He benched Del Piero at Juventus which was an unpopular decision with the fans.

This would also set a unwelcome precedent at the club. Ever since the appointment of Shankly we have been the club who have trusted the managers with complete control over the football side of things. I prefer that tradition continues. It will be beneficial to us in the long term even if in short term it may prove to be a bit harmful.
