Well Kuyt is starting fewer games these days than he has done in the past, and if you ask me Rafa is getting a bit tired of his continual non-goalscoring appearances. He trusts him defensively because he's disciplined, he works so hard and is reliable positionally (insofar as the way we set up when we don't have the ball) but I refuse to believe that Rafa sends him out with the instruction of playing like a midfielder and not to offer any goal threat whatsoever.

He missed a ****ing sitter, of course i'm gonna single him out!!!Originally posted by Robster007 View Post
I think Kuyt's been played out of position almost the entire time he's been here. No wonder he's low on confidence. He gives his all and he's a Red. But to answer your question, I disagree with ****s like you singling him out after every poor TEAM performance, or indeed good TEAM performance as the case is today.
Torres did too and should've done better, but when he's scored 15 goals you can forgive him.

Was just coming on to make a thread about kuyt....not one to stand here and slag of players...because they are all miles better than me, but i just dont think he is up to the grade of LFC, and judging by the comments on here no1 does...
however is rafa just starting him because he doesnt want to admit defeat that he has paid £10+million on a striker that is ****e?!

No way. If anything Rafa has always been the complete opposite to that.Originally posted by biggidawg View Post

If you're not good enough, you're a goner.
If he's consistent, I'd expect Rafa to ship Kuyt out next summer too, because he simply hasn't scored enough goals. He's started the majority of league games, yet still has a pitiful goal tally. Three goals. One from open play!
I'm DYING to see Babel given a run up front alongside Torres. Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

I'm behind all LFC players but in my view Kuyt isn't good enough for LFC. Personally, I'd prefer to see Crouch in the team above him.Originally posted by reddragon View Postsorry mate but that doesn't add up.
i don't defend him because of his workrate - i suggest that it is a good trait to have, one that most players don't have in abundance. Maybe skill wise he isn't good enough, but his movement is first rate - better than most top strikers.
in essence:
Skill - not good enough
Workrate - good enough
Movement - good enough
Finishing - not good enough
Influence on others in the squad - should be good enough
Overall, I [and Rafa] rate him above Crouch and the Crow. Therefore, unless we get a better striker between now and Jan 31st I'm behind him all the way. What happens in the summer is a different story.
Strikers basically have 2 functions, to score and create goals. For me Kuyt does neither. So far kuyt has scored 21 goals in 69 appearences for LFC, that 1 in 3 games which quite simply isn't enough. On top of that this season he's scored 3 league goals in 15 appearences, 2 of the goals were penalties. Now by any measure thats very poor.
If he was a creative player a la Kenny or Beardsley then 1 in 3 is ok but he isn't, he hardly creates anything. I don't dislike the guy but he's simply not good enough. Now people on here can bang on about supporting LFC players etc which is fair enough but if we are to win the league we will not do it with Kuyt in the side.AKA Heighway No9

Would I have got married during the football season ?

Kuyt is far from our only shortcoming as a team, and I'm not picking on 1 player but as this thread is about Kuyt, I talked only about him.Originally posted by ronniedrew View Postthats true, but probably only 5 or 6 (maybe) of our players are good enough to get into a title winning side, theres nothing we can do about that until the summer, you wont buy much quality in jan, so we should support whats there and get behind them, not pick on one player, and one thats told to do the dirty job up frontAKA Heighway No9

How many times did he force a city player into hitting a misplaced/long/conceding possession type pass today? Loads, that's how many.Originally posted by Sir Bob View PostI'm behind all LFC players but in my view Kuyt isn't good enough for LFC. Personally, I'd prefer to see Crouch in the team above him.
