Maybe, just maybe, that given the time that Wenger's had people will be saying that Rafa built most of his team on a shoe string in years to come.

There's no guarantee but it's possible.

One thing's for sure though there's alot of goings on behind te scenes at LFC which we probably wont see the fruits of for a few years but hopefully in the long term we'll begin to see some youngsters, who are good enough, brought through.
    Amen to all that.

Doesnt mean we can just switch off and underachieve for a few years in the meantime though

As Liverpool fans we have the right to have a go at the manager and the players when things are not going well.

Exactly. In the real world, Robbie is a little past it to perform at the top, week in week out BUT he would still be useful as fourth choice, whereas Players like Voronin just should not be bought. (free transfer or no free transfer)

My ideas for 4th and fifth choice strikers are youth or people at the back of their careers, both of whom would be happy as a bit part. Then 3 TOP strikers ahead in the pecking order. Of course the youngster would have to have top potential.

        No that's a given.

Results haven't been what we need in the last few matches but I just think that this is a project that Rafa has only now been able to set up the way he wants to. He's trying to to get a team together that can challenge now and one that will challenge in the future. That can't be an easy thing to do.

The project he has along with the new owners doesn't suddenly become wrong and un-doable after a few dodgy draws. It's a long process and it may be another year, maybe two, before we really start to see Rafa's true vision for LFC.

People will say that he's had three years already and I would agree to an extent but it's only this season that he's been able to go after players of real start quality like Fernando Torres.

I hope that the American owners show patience and willing to let Rafa have a good crack at things but I do fear that these two, despite their smiles and constant assurances of backing the manager, will prove to be as ruthless as anything we've seen.

I honestly can't think of one manager who's available that could replace Rafa and until there is someone who we could be sure definitely would do a better job he should stay and be given the time to take his ideas to the next level.

I agree with you and i dont expect miracles.

I'd just like to experience a season or two when it's (the league campaign) isnt done and dusted by Christmas. I dont think that's unrealistic to ask for.

I think we'll be there or there abouts come the end of the season, I really do.

I still believe that it's possible for us to have a crack at it this season. We might not win it but I don't think that being in the title race come April time is out of the equation.

If you gave me 6 players I wouldn't want injured, they'd be Gerrard, Alonso, Agger, Carra, Torres and Reina.

It would be like taking out Ferdinand, Rooney and Scholes from utd.

Agreed though that we should have more strength in depth.

Wow, just reading through this thread (well not just this thread sadly) there is a lot of needlessly personal stuff creeping in. Seems we may have to be a bit firmer with people flaming, because it's becoming the norm now.

                        I'm guilty of this.

A lot of people are frustrated.

Still, lets be honest here, the personal duels here are nothing like on Rawk. What a dive forum full of ****houses.

At least we haven't gotten to the stage where someone starts a thread, using constructive criticism but a generally unpopular opinion, then the "**** off and support whatever team" comments start and thread gets locked or deleted.
