I mean, he's looked decent for them. Unplayable at times, superb in the air, strong and quick - the sort of player Heskey should've been.

But he's nothing like proved himself. To offer Crouch in exchange would be demented - valueing Jones at £10m+.

I don't see any direct quotes in the article, so it's complete bollocks. Crouch wouldn't go there for starters, etc.

But here's the thing.

The fact that we're linked with a player like him - and to be fair he's a decent player, but he won't be an improvement on what we've already got - makes you worry.

When are we going to bring some genuine class in?

Surely with the signing of Torres Rafa has realised that you only get what you pay for.

To often we've settled for maybes or potential like Kuyt, Heskey and Cisse in recent times. Sometimes it comes off, but more often than not it doesn't.

Look at the top class forwards in Europe who have transfered in recent years: Ibrahimovic, Rooney, Tevez, Drogba, Van Nistelrooy, Luca Toni and Henry. All went for big money.

Yes there are exceptions, but they are few and far between.

I hope Rafa saves whatever cash he does have and buys a top player, instead of buying two "maybes" for the same amount like he did with Pennant and Kuyt 18 months ago. Doing that, over and over, gets us nowhere.
