No chance would Rafa be interested in any kind of swap deal involving Crouch because:

    a) Crouch is a better more proven player

    b) Why would Rafa have waited till the player moved to Sunderland before declaring his interest and hence having to offer millions more than what Sunderland paid for the player only months ago?

It has to be bollocks. If it isn't then I'll really start to worry.

The Keita from Lyon is pants, he's like another version of Cisse, with just a tad more skill.

Why on earth would we sign another CM??? thats just mad

we need: a winger, a CB, and a striker

These were the reactions of a lot of people when we were first linked with Crouch.

Just watched the City vs. Sunderland game and I have to say I´m not sure about this player. Plus he is very unproven.

Having said that he is faster then Crouch, a better header of the ball, stronger, and has better touch and technical ability. One would assume his finishing is at least decent. He is in other words a more talented footballer then Crouch.

          Is Rafa on to something?

Crouch's first touch and technical ability is excellent. They are without doubt his best attributes. There's no way that this Jones fella is better in that department. As for being quicker and a better header of the ball....well that's not really hard is it.

And if 'you're not sure about this player' but reckon he's still better than Crouch you must really think Crouch is complete and utter crap.

I'm not opposed to signing Jones as such, he seems very dangerous in the air and very physical something you could argue we lack up front at times. However i would prefer to keep Crouchy and still bring the lad in, although i think it's fairly obvious there's been some sort of falling out between Crouch and Rafa which is a shame and will probably lead to Crouchy leaving in the future.

If Rafa is after that kind of player then he should be looking to sign Huntelaar.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

If he was a couple of million quid then maybe, but get rid of Crouch and splash £10m on Jones? That way madness lies.

Jones would mean the return of percentage football - perhaps not such a bad thing if it brought results with it. I hope this is just a load of rubbish though because it's class that we're lacking up front, not another 'possiblity'.

We should be looking at bringing someone like Anelka in... even Gudjohnsen. Both are good players and much much better than our three backup strikers.

                            Completely agree.
We do need class, not another "option".

If we are not minted, Eidur is a good shout imo.
Gudjohnsen is a top link striker with an eye for a pass, but who can also score. A lot of people here scream about his acting to get Alonso a yellow, but forget that, he is a good footballer. Even if all the Icelandic fans on here say he is a ******.

Anelka or Gudjohnsen would be my choices as well if we were in the market for a striker in January. I think Gudjohnsen and Torres could dovetail brilliantly together.

Agree, and would be available for a similar sort of fee too.
