No you couldn't because it quite clearly has not.

and yes, i edited in Bennayoun, Torres and arbeloa a while back to push Pennant to #5

i think it depends on what you expect from an out and out winger. that's crosses because he doesn't drift inside as yossi does for instance because he is not an out and out winger. the fact of the matter is that none of our forwards is a decent enough header.

In fact, our 'dip' in form coincided with Pennant's absense.

Albeit along with Alonso's and Agger's absense too.

That doesn't mean he was our best player thusfar.

Arbeloa has been awesome this season and established himself in the first team. Our best full back.

No, it means some people may have been underestimating what he has done for us.

He has been one of our best along with 4/5 others IMO.

Reina has stood out from the pack, for me.

NO! NO! NO! You can't disagree with Nic83!!
Anyone who does is a fool!!
This is the boy who discovered Torres kicking oranges around the backstreets of Madrid, you know!

If he says it was Pennant, then it was Pennant.

One win against wigan in his last 7 fit games is hardly great form???
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

Lol, why are you leaving out our games at the beginning of the season?

you know, the ones when we looked pretty damn good such as Derby and Sunderland, chelsea and villa. He was also carrying an injury for the ones after these.

You know it amazes me the differences in opinion fans can have on a players worth. I accept that pennant has a few tricks and has occasionally had a good game. But there has been more games than enough were he has been woeful. Take the champions league final. Loads of fans praised him to the hilt. Pennant himself has been boasting how good he was! I thought he was his usual ultimately ineffective self.
I asked a colleague in work, a fellow red, who his pick of the season was. He said kuyt. In the name of good god the lad is a tryer but his overall contribution has been pure sh*te. I asked him had he actually seen any games.
                              Football is funny like that.

If you consider a back to back 4-0 and 6-0 win a 'dip' in form, then I'd love to know what you'd consider a good result.

For me, things went wrong form the Portsmouth game onwards.
